Barbara This doesn't usually get brought up as one of Dickens best but I liked it when I read it a 2nd and 3rd time. One thing Dickens does really well is create colorful and 3 dimensional supporting characters and IMHO you see him do some of his best in characters like Newman Noggs, Wackford Squeers and his wife, the Mantalinis, the Cheerryble twins.
I think it was back in the 80s where they did this stage production of it that lasted more than 8 hrs - there was even a dinner break. And I know it was made into movies a few times.
