I finished through Chapter 7 last night. It is different and you know it doesn't end well from the first sentence but I'm quite enjoying.
Finished Chapter 10. I'm kind of fascinated by this community of Nigerwives who stayed in Nigeria and their children. I have a number of friends married to African men and most don't stay, though they are all American women. I can't imagine being in Maja's situation. Poor Vivek, he seems so lost. I have a feeling that bad things happened at his boarding school, don't bad things usually happen to fragile boys at those schools at least in books? I'm kind of scared to know how Vivek's life ended. Maybe Osita is the one to bring his body back home? Sounds like they had a special relationship. The religious fervor of Mary is terrifying. I struggle with religion that judges and harms.
Just finished Chapter 13. I love that the daughters have taken in Vivek to protect and include as one of them. Not entirely sure about that the relationship with Osita. It at least seems like a loving one. The men in their lives are not really ones to emulate.
Hi, I am so far behind I am literally on chapter 2 but I am going to dive into this one tonight. I had to finish up 2 books I was reading to start a new one.
The Death of Vivek Oji is crazy. I kind of confused but I think Osita and Vivek had a very weird relationship for them to be cousins. I really want to know what happen to Vivek. Kavita is by far my favorite character. She is such a great person and mother overall. Mary is INSANE and very delusional lolThis story sounds like a lifetime movie
Yes! I agree with all above! How it is told is a bit confusing but does build the suspense. It is well done.
OMG! I just finished this book and it was so good. I can't believe Osita. Like first you struggle with your own personal sexuality then fall in love with your cousin and kill him! I didn't want it to end ugh, I just feel like the way Kavita found out should have been more dramatic. I wanted them to find out about Osita and Vivek.
Right?! So good. I honestly wasn't that surprised by the ending. Osita was trying so hard to protect Vivek from the shame and abuse he assumed (and probably rightly so) he would receive that protected him to death. So terrible.I love how Kavita really heard the daughters and processed how making her child hide their real self caused the problem and the revision on the grave marker. So beautiful how she accepted their real identity.
I really want to read more by the author now. This one was so well done. I have their new one on hold and look forward to it.
