I find that I'm mostly drawn to the innocent goodness of anime romance. Examples include Anohana, Clannad, Kanon, Your Lie In April, etc.
The characters are young (typically in high school or college), have no experience with sex, and are awkwardly discovering friendships with the opposite sex. Often, a group (one or two males and the rest females) of unlikely friends come together as a result of seeing a need and helping each other.
As friendships develop, the characters privately yearn for more, but are shy, so the romance develops slowly. Typically, the males takes longer to recognize their desire goes beyond friendship. Although physical attraction is significant, the goodness they see in each other is the overriding compulsion that draws them together (perhaps after initially being passed over for another).
I don't have much time to read, but do have time to listen to audiobooks. Any recommendations?
