Is Darth Bane a good dude really? Or is he as bad as they say?

I think he's just like everyone else; we are all good and bad and everything in between. So is he. But, we could get into a whole philosophical discussion on what makes a person good or bad and does good and bad REALLY exist or is it all just dependent on perception? Is it all in our minds?

Good or bad... The Sith and the Jedi are just different sides of the same coin.

I actually liked him the whole way up until he killed the two boys and their dad just to take advantage of the powerful emotional response.Now I find it very hard to give his roguish personality the benefit of the doubt.

I couldn't agree more, Casey, that they are different sides of the same coin. Good vs Evil for them seems to be of relative nature at times based on the ends or the means for either side. The fact, too, that one can slide between one Side and another dependent on events gives even more credence to that fact. The Force seems to always be seeking balance in this universe, and it seems that Jedi and Sith are often pawns that are played to create that balance with written destinies in a lot of cases.
