I thought that the Bourbons were behind it because of the grudge that Marie Theresa has against Sebastian. Also, Sophie was on the wrong side of the monarchy.
Agreed! I actually believed they may have had something to do with her murder, especially her little henchman Xavier de Teulet.
I think I was in the dark, maybe because Sebastian was English, even if his French was flawless....?
Because the authorities were very quick to dismiss her death as an accident, I thought it was because Sophie was English and not high on the Bourbon's list of acceptable people.
