The story is set in 1815 Paris following Napoleon’s exile and the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy. Did you learn anything of particular note? Did the historical facts provided add to the intrigue or detract? Did you have any issues separating fact versus fiction?

One of my favorite aspects of this series is the history refresher and/or new information I gained. I don't think I knew that the Bourbons changed or destroyed some of the good work that Napoleon did. This always surprises me that people in the present are so willing to destroy history.

This was the richest education for me ever in this series. I’ve never understood French history as all those Louis’ confused me. But Harris did the impossible…making sense out of the different monarchs and the nuanced politics. I got so engrossed in it all.

Sharon, how stupid for the Bourbons to restore the things that brought about the Revolution. They were responsible for Napoleons rise from exile without a shot fired. That never made sense to me before.

I was Googling a lot (mostly names) so separating fact from fiction wasn’t hard and I always read her afterwords.

Thank God for Google. I used it a lot to refresh my memory. My best friend in school, from grade school through high school, was from France. Whenever our history lessons touched on French history, her parents would give us additional information. Even with that I can't keep all the Louis' straight.

What a gift! I just gave up in high school.

One of the things I like most about Regency stories is the history I learn from many of them. When I was young, I thought most history was blah, sad to say.

The historical background that Harris provided intrigued me, and I resorted to Google also. I knew little of French history and wanted to know a little more about the timeline of the period. I figured a lot of the characters were fiction.
