Hello team, I am a 53 year old gay man with MS. I am in Milwaukee, Wisconsin so central time zone. I am already captaining two team so prefer not to be captain. I mainly read M/M romance with the occasional heteronormative sci fi or fantasy.
Ok just because I like to know and don't like first come first serve for this. We can either always be in the position on the message listing us:Meg 1st letter
Roger - president of NBR United - 2nd letter
Joyce 3rd letter
Christene Paula 4th letter
Or each week we go down one with the person having the last letter going to first letter.
Your thoughts?

Hello Team! I've been out of town for a much needed break but am back and ready to jump in. I'm from sunny California, where the temps are on the rise...I love hot summers but even I have to admit that it can get smothering here at times.I'm good with Roger's suggestion! Give me a bit of time to reacquaint myself with the rules of play and I may go ahead and take the Captain's chair if Christine or Wolf don't want it.

About the scavenger portion of the challenge; Only the actual WotW and BWotW can be used, though a plural form will be accepted. For example, for this week's words, only Belt and Belts, Carpet and Carpets will be accepted by the Mod.
Ok in case wolf doesn' t show up we should rotate the person reading two books so we can have all available points. I am willing and usually able to read two book if I know in advance that I need to.
If your fourth team member hasn't checked in by starting time (12:01 a.m.), I'll get you a replacement.
Lanelle wrote: "If your fourth team member hasn't checked in by starting time (12:01 a.m.), I'll get you a replacement."Thanks, Lanelle!
Lanelle wrote: "If your fourth team member hasn't checked in by starting time (12:01 a.m.), I'll get you a replacement."what time zone?
Christene Paula wrote: "Im also willing to read two. Good idea with the rotation. Who's up first?"Since we're going to get a new team member if Wolf hasn't come in yet, we probably won't need to rotate this time.
If someone is absent later on then the first person who volunteers can be first. That should be okay, right?
Roger - president of NBR United - wrote: "what time zone?"
Good question. How about early tomorrow morning for me? (Pacific Daylight time)

Hi, Joyce, welcome to Vienna! As you probably know, we can start reading our chosen book today and have until Tuesday to finish. Your letter this week is "L". You can use the first word of the title (excluding 'a', 'an', or 'the'), or the author's first, middle, or last initial.
Please let us know what book you'll be reading so we can add it to the tracking post.

Great, I've added it to our list. I'm glad you were able to get in on the game.
Week 1; letter BBelt & Carpet Week
My Letter: B (3 points)
Book: Stephanie Blackmoore, Gown with the Wind
Read: 06/09/2022
Rating: 3 1/2*
Review:
It had been awhile since i read the first three books in the Wedding Planner mystery series set in a small Pennsylvania town. This installment was a good one, with twists and deceptions that I didn't see coming. The insight into the workings of a wedding planning business, both the ups and downs, was as interesting as always. The tendency towards some repetition, as well as the MC's tendency to play lap dog to a couple of abrasive characters, brought my rating down a bit. But it was compelling read overall.
Bonus items and points:
Carpet: "A busy evergreen carpet stretched out in the cavernous space." Kindle location 2126
Belt: Not in text

Actually I am going to change my book as that one is over 500 pages and I have gotten a late start. I will do Lost and Found by Alan Dean Foster. It is half the size

Got it!
Week 1; letter TBelt & Carpet Week
My Letter: T (1 point)
Book: The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles
Read: 06/12/2022
Rating: 4/5
Review:
The Lincoln Highway is a historical fiction about two brothers with different ideas on which path they should be going. Emmet wanted to follow wherever work is and Bennet wanted to go where there mom is. It is an adventure together with Emmet's friends along the Lincoln Highway.
What an inventive and absorbing read this is. The characters are wonderful - all memorable in their own special way, the storyline is just an escapade full of humour and joy, not to mention some moving scenes thrown in for good measure.
Bonus items and points:
Carpet: "I could tell because when his arm slipped off the edge of the bed, he left it hanging there with his fingers grazing the carpet." pp 176
Belt: "In his room he dressed in a fresh pair of jeans and denim shirt along with his favorite belt and boots." pp 36
Total all points = 3
(Not sure with the points system lol)

I've had this one on my WL for quite awhile now, but I got the impression from another review that there were some sad or even horrific scenes? But your review gives me the feeling that it's a feel-good book?

The points are based on each letter's tiles value plus one point each for the WotW and the bonus word. You can see the tile value up above, near the top. So one point for T, and one for each word, for a total of 3. So great, btw, finding both words in the text!

my letter: E
How to Walk like a Man by Eli Easton
Read: 6/13/2022
Rated 5 stars
Review: Book 2 in the how to howl at the moon series it totally rocks with closeted DEA agent Matt Barclay falling in love with Dog quickened to Human Roman Charsguard. for the first time Roman experiences human sexuality and Eli treats it with her usual humor. All sort of stuff from drug smuggler trying to set up shop and Matt''s dad a retired Army General butting in and exposing that Roman was never a Human in the Army. the secondary characters of the town rock in this book.
Points: E 1 point
Belt: Matt couldn't figure it out—sex? Gradual? What did he mean? But at the mere word 'sex' coming out of Roman's mouth, his lizard brain licked its chops and certain areas below the belt started to perk up. Location 823 1 point
Carpet: The room he was in looked like a small bedroom with white walls, green carpet, and a window with an old pair of wooden blinds drawn closed. Other than the chair, all the furniture had been removed and a heavy plastic tarp lay beneath the chair. 1 point location 1789
Total points: 3

Review:I really enjoyed this book so much. Walker is a successful stockbroker and an ex-high school football player. He goes into the woods to camp on a bet but he winds up going on a different adventure altogether. He gets abducted and wind up introduced to many other alien species which he needs to learn how to get along with if he's to escape.
This book never disappointed me. I loved the ride and will look for more of this author's books.

For this challenge you will need to read one book a week.
Each week the moderator will announce the Word of the Week. The WotW will have four letters. Each team member will choose one of the four letters. That letter will determine the book they will read that week. You can use the first word of the title (excluding 'a', 'an', or 'the'), or the author's first, middle, or last initial.
There will also be a BONUS Word of the Week. (BWotW)
Example:
The WotW is 'BOAT'. You pick the letter 'A'. You decide to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
If you find both the WotW and the BWotW in the text of the book, you will earn the Scrabble point value of the letter and a point for each of the found words. In this example, A is worth 1 point, plus 2 points for the two found words for a total of 3 points.
WotW and BWotW will be announced each Monday morning.
