I say we each pick out a letter from Belt to make sure we get that read and then pick out letters from carpet as we go for who can read more than 1 book.
Do we spell out both words? I thought we just had to do the word of the week and we try to find the bonus word in the text too?
Thats exciting if we only have to find that bonus word in the text. Awesome! I can also make any letter work.
I will be on vacation this first week but I'll have my book read for sure!
Cindy wrote: "Do we spell out both words? I thought we just had to do the word of the week and we try to find the bonus word in the text too?"This is what the rules say:
Example:
The WotW is 'BOAT'. You pick the letter 'A'. You decide to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
If you find both the WotW and the BWotW in the text of the book, you will earn the Scrabble point value of the letter and a point for each of the found words.
In this example, A is worth 1 point, plus 2 points for the two found words for a total of 3 points.
Thank you Megan! We are.good to begin reading our books right? haha I have never played this game before.

Book: The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
Read: 6/11/22
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I switched between reading it and listening to it and it kept me entertained and interested the whole time. This book has been on my tbr for a long time and I’m glad I finally decided to jump into it. I can see why they painting is so famous. Theo had to deal with so much so young. Sometimes I felt like he was a little much or a little extra but it’s ok. I couldn’t imagine surviving something like that and being able to continue living my life like he did. I would recommend this read

Belt & Carpet Week 1
My Letter: E
Book: Working Fire by Emily Bleeker
Read: 6/14/22
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review:
The story is told in a dual time-line, Ellie's present time and Amelia's several weeks in the past working towards the present. I liked that aspect of it, slowly learning/confirming what happened and why. I thought some of the characters were just too unwilling to hear the other out and always jumping to conclusions...though I know that a lot of people do do that. The ending was very rushed and just jumped time, then abruptly ended. All in all, I thought the book was okay and I'd probably give another book by this author a read.
Bonus Items and Points:
Belt: "A quick check for the radio on her belt revealed an empty spot." (page 43)
Carpet: Blood—a row of bloody footprints cutting through the carpet of the dining room." (page 27)

Book: Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden
Read: 6/15/22
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Review:
I loved this book! The way the Persephone myth was intertwined with the Beauty and the Beast story was fabulous. I could definitely see myself rereading this book at some point and I'm excited to continue with the series.
Bonus Items and Points:
Wage: "“Or I shall not presume to pay your wages.”" (loc. 66 )
Barn: "Falstone Chapel was several miles further, but Mr. Pointer kept his cattle securely inside the vicarage barn when not in use." (loc. 1892 )

All the Summer Girls by Meg Donohue
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
Honestly this book was just alright! The only aspect that I really enjoyed was the three friends who had drifted apart over 8 years finally came together. They all thought each others lives were perfect and living their best lives when in reality that's not how it really works. The end of the books for me kept coming closer and closer while I'm thinking but there is so much left to read about.
For me so many strings were left undone. I have so many questions at the end of this book that it brought the rating down for me.
Bonus words:
Wage: No wage
Barn: " Kate's living room looks like a scene from a Potter Barn Catalog. " Page 3

Review: This book drew me in quick and kept me hooked the whole time. I loved getting to know all the characters. I loved Everlea. I think she’s such a badass. They both come with a lot of baggage but I’m glad they were able to make their way through it. Can’t wait to read the next book

Review:
Meg deals with guilt from an incident when she was a teen and a recent accident doubles that guilty feeling. I found this book to be one I didn't want to stop reading and so finished it quickly. Meg made some foolish decisions after the accident and this causes some problems in her life. The ending doesn't end with everything wrapped up and tidy, but leaves some things open to interpretation...not my favorite kind of ending.
Bonus Items and Points:
View: "But despite the clear view I can’t make sense of what I’m seeing." (loc. 292)

Review- Honestly the first half of the book it took me a really long time to gather who everyone was and how they related to each other. I didn't find this an amazing book or one that I couldn't put down. It just didn't take with me sadly. It was a very nice summer beach read type book tho.

Review: Not sure how I feel about this book. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it either. I can see how this book can suck you in but for some reason I just wasn’t that into it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for this type of read. I think it just felt too fast paced and confusing.

For this challenge you will need to read one book a week.
Each week the moderator will announce the Word of the Week. The WotW will have four letters. Each team member will choose one of the four letters. That letter will determine the book they will read that week. You can use the first word of the title (excluding 'a', 'an', or 'the'), or the author's first, middle, or last initial.
There will also be a BONUS Word of the Week. (BWotW)
