Review: This was a cute and cheesy book....
And then...
The sex scene. My GOD! That was one of the worst things of all time. This is a book with a predominantly female-based audience. Why would anyone want to read that (view spoiler). I definitely lost love for this book after the weird and awkward moment.
I mostly disliked the constant size comparison that was included in most, if not all chapters of the book. "I'm 5'7 which is tall... but he is HUGE! So tall, towering, hulking,..." It got to be a bit much for me.
Soooo... The rest of the book was mostly a cute romcom.
I will leave it with 3 stars["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Completion PostBelt & Carpet Week
My Letter: B
Book: The Beau & the Belle
Read: 6/08/22
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review: The story starts when Lauren is 17 and Beau is 24. She's a Junior in high school, and he in his last year of law school.
They meet when Beau rents an apartment on their property. Prior to meeting Beau, Lauren has a huge crush on a young man named Preston, but one she met Beau things started to shift.
Of course Beau didn't respond or act in any untoward way towards Lauren, but she definitely tried her hardest.
Ten years past, and these two haven't seen one another since the hurricane that forced them to separate. Now Beau wants Lauren, but Lauren has decided that they should just be friends.
In all honesty, she doesn't put up much of a fight, but it was still fun getting to that point and I was glad to finally see them being able to be completely comfortable with each other.
Told from dual povs and it's definitely a slow burn.
Bonus Items and Points:
Belt: His hand touch his belt... (pg. 292)
Carpet: ...backed up for some red carpet event... (pg. 140)

You are only spelling out Belt. You are looking for 'belt' and 'carpet' in the text of your book.

Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel

Rating 4 stars
Review:
I really enjoyed this book, I am a sucker for time travel. I did get a little lost , so I will be reading it again. I love the characters I was confused at the ending but I suspect I missed something.
I listened to the audio and used google search to find carpet. I couldn’t copy the text so I am providing the link

Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life by Rachel Renée Russell
Date read: 6/11/22
Review:
If I were reading this for myself, I wouldn't have liked it. The main character is whiny and mean to people. Everything she accuses people of doing, she is kind of a mirror for in herself. There's a reason I steered toward different character-focused middle school books in my preteen years. I wouldn't have wanted Nikki as a friend at that age. Personal rating is a 2.5.

It doesn't look like anyone has volunteered to be Captain :(

Review: I almost didn’t finish this book. I liked the premise of this book a missing twin sister. The first part was exciting Shanya traveling to Paris and working with the detective. The next chapters were boring and I had to force myself to finish.

Shan, thank you for submitting the team Completion Post. I noticed two errors, though. Leslie's total should be 3 and Celia's total should be 2. And that would affect the whole total. Could you edit the Completion Post, please?

For this challenge you will need to read one book a week.
Each week the moderator will announce the Word of the Week. The WotW will have four letters. Each team member will choose one of the four letters. That letter will determine the book they will read that week. You can use the first word of the title (excluding 'a', 'an', or 'the'), or the author's first, middle, or last initial.
There will also be a BONUS Word of the Week. (BWotW)
Example:
The WotW is 'BOAT'. You pick the letter 'A'. You decide to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
If you find both the WotW and the BWotW in the text of the book, you will earn the Scrabble point value of the letter and a point for each of the found words. In this example, A is worth 1 point, plus 2 points for the two found words for a total of 3 points.
WotW and BWotW will be announced each Monday morning.
