Jane Austen discussion

In Jude Deveraux's Return to Summerhouse three women leave early 21st century Maine and find themselves in an English tavern yard, late 18th century:

Zoe looked at Faith. "Look at this place! Look at us! Am I asleep or dead? Or have I just fallen into a Jane Austen novel?"

Deveraux loves Austen, regularly sneaking her in where she might plausibly be considered not off-topic in a Deveraux novel.
