What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Looking for books where the characters are bored over summer break (or for some other reason) then are pulled, or pull themselves, out of the slump with some sort of activity or adventure.
I'm certain children's books like this exist and that I've read some...but few are coming to mind.

I'm thinking of sort of a book version of the Finneas and Ferb tv show.

This is the best children's novel I know on this topic, and even though most of it takes place prior to the summer, I want to recommend it: The Saturdays, by Elizabeth Enright. The Saturdays
