I think it is wonderful that the author decided to write the book from Alice's point of view, never wavering, even as the disease progresses. I teared up a little bit when her student, Dan, thanked her after he graduated, and thought he was so thoughtful to write it down for her what he said so she could refer to his words even though she doesn't remember him saying them to her. I appreciate all the research the author did and all the time she spent with people who have Alzheimer's in order to get the tone right.
I saw another reviewer on Goodreads that said since the book was originally self-published that the big problem was that the book lacked editing. I feel that the clutter and the missing information in the story is integral in understanding how Alice thinks, and how her thinking changes as her EOAD progresses.
Even though it is only February, I am willing to go out on a limb and say that Still Alice is one of the best books I have read/will read this year.
