Char | 17526 comments I will be your host for your July reads, Aficionados! After consulting with my fellow moderators, I've decided a theme is in order and I've chosen:

Cults/Demons/Possession/Satanism

All the rules can be found here along with a link to our previous reads:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If the book you nominate has already been read by this group, or if an author or publisher nominates their own book, it WILL NOT BE INCLUDED in the final poll.

Lastly, if you like someone else's nomination give it a +1. Remember, the more noms a book gets, the more likely it will be to make it to the final poll.

Nominations close Sunday, June 19th.

All that said, let me know what ROCKING horror book you want to read!

Song of Kali by Dan Simmons

Calcutta: a monstrous city of immense slums, disease and misery, is clasped in the foetid embrace of an ancient cult. At its decaying core is the Goddess Kali: the dark mother of pain, four-armed and eternal, her song the sound of death and destruction. Robert Luczak has been hired by Harper's to find a noted Indian poet who has reappeared, under strange circumstances, years after he was thought dead. But nothing is simple in Calcutta and Lucsak's routine assignment turns into a nightmare when he learns that the poet is rumoured to have been brought back to life in a bloody and grisly ceremony of human sacrifice.
