Okay, sure!
Let's count it starting today (6/18), then. Do you usually like discussing as you go or just after we're both done?

Hey sorry what do you mean by (6/18) do you mean 18 chapters? because when I counted there were like 60 or something.
Also, sure we can discuss it as we go! Sometimes I have trouble remembering all the details when I'm finished with a book😂
Oh, 6/18 as in June the 18th! So we should be through Chapter 24 by the end of next week.
Alright, that sounds great to me! I'm exactly the same way lol.

oh haha sorry I seem so dumb now, but It's already the 19th for me here in china so😂 that makes sense now.

Oh, got it! I'd just assumed you were doing audio, too, but if you'd like, we could totally tone it down a little.

no, its fine! yesterday was day three and I've surprisingly been able to read 3 chapters a day and it wasn't too bad.
Anyways, what are you thinking so far? I know that you will be a day behind me but I've just finished " Strangers in Carvahall"
Hey Eloria! Sorry for the late reply! I was behind before, but now I think I'm ahead! Whoops. xD Where are you at? I'm at the part where they've gotten to this big port city after some traveling.
I've been a little annoyed so far, but the backstories and such have been interesting. Have you noticed some of the parallels to LotR? Some might be accidental, but some of them definitely seem like convenient ways for Paolini to make his characters and world seem more nuanced while not actually doing the work of coming up with the ideas himself.

Haha what do you mean by annoyed? I'm not quite sure exactly what to think yet. The MC is a little annoying, Idk why but he just is and so far the plot has been pretty slow, but I'm hoping it will pick up some.
Yes, I have noticed some parallels! Also I feel like even the MCs name is a hint to those parallels 😂
But I did see that you just liked a bunch of one star review😅 haha are you thinking this will be a one star book for you?
Oh! Whoops, I am really ahead, then! That's all right, though. I'll just try not to spoil anything.
Maybe I've been reading too many articles on Eragon, but this is a little of what I mean.
(view spoiler)
What's it like reading the actual words? I think a good audiobook reader almost always makes a book sound better than it actually is, which is why I'm wishing right now that I had the physical book so I can look at the writing better (without the temptation to speed an audiobook up to 2x 😂).
I don't want to ruin the book for you, though! Don't think about it too much. (Or at least try not to! I tried and failed. 😅) It started turning sour for me after Eragon's big rant about God / the gods and his "wise" dragon's "follow your heart; it's the only true guide" thing. I tried to be considerate, and I'm still halfheartedly trying to when I read. It's just too much like plagiarism to me.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

It's kinda sussy how similar the names are. Its clear he too lots of inspiration from LOTRs.
reading it in actual words is fine, I feel like the level of writing is't that hight, so it goes fast. Haha it's totally fine to listen to it fast! especially with more modern books with less complex sentence structures, sometimes I do listen at 2x but most of the time my go to is 1.3-1.5x depending on the narrator.
When was that big rant? I don't think I remember it... but honestly stuff like that doesn't really get to me because basically it's the message of EVERY modern book and Disney movie.
So I take it you are't feeling too favorably about it? I feel like so far it's actually not annoying me, which is pretty rare😂 I feel like the pacing is a little off and the tone is sometimes not right, because sometimes when it's really intense or something I feel so chill reading it, but honestly I feel like it's probably just underdeveloped writing skills from the author as he was like 15 when he wrote it.
Also so far the whole book has been pretty chill I feel like which I appreciate. It's not boring, just chill.
Also Buddy reading is so good for me because I've own this book for five years and it's a literal brick so I was so weary of picking it up and actually reading it but now because I'm Buddy reading every day when I don't feel like reading I'm just like "I can't let Lilly down, I gotta read" 😂
Okay! I'm ahead of you, but I'll just make sure not to spoil anything. You can talk as freely as you want about what you've read, though!
Yes, same here!
I think the book has gotten better in the second half. I've been a little more invested and a little less annoyed. Murtagh came along, and he reminds me of Coren from Moonscript ((view spoiler) ).
Aww! ❤️❤️❤️ That's how I felt buddy reading 1984 a few months ago, too! Same with being in a book club, I think.
Anyway, who do you think is your favorite character so far? I'm thinking I'll be rating Eragon a 3, but I'm not quite finished yet. It started out great, but I wanted to rate it a 1 at some points and a 2 at others. I'm not totally unhappy with it, though.

Oh cool! I’ve only read the first and second book. But yeah, life can get in the way of reading. You gotta sneak it in when you can!
Haha! I basically only read at night, and I’ve gotten scolded many times for staying up to late reading 😂
