Linda I had never even heard of these books until the movie. I am really enjoying reading this series. Although, the author is a bit dark. I really don't know how children read them and are not afraid of every adult. Oh well, he (Lemony Snicket) does warn the reader that there are happier things to read about than his books. Try them, they're fun.

I had :)

cali i also finished it. it's really good!

Jenny I like the movie, but the book's WAY better. I saw the movie first. They should really make the whole series into a movie! :)

Angie You are right Linda, Mr Snicket, contrary to his representative Mr Handler, is a bit dark.

The books are impressive, in my case, not only because of explaining words, idioms, English expressions and giving literary allusions, they can also give valuable life lessons.

cali I've been hoping for this for a long time now, and I don't think it's gonna happen. :("

why? its really good, a must read book series :)

Good series. Read them all. Movie not as good as books...

but I like Jim Carey as Count Olaf

Ivy Rodriguez i liked Jim Carey too but they should've made the movie over more of the books, or at least make more movies

Earwen Jim Carey is the only reason I liked the movie.

Phillip I had the good fortune of discovering the series early on. I got to read and share them with my older children as the books came out. Then I got to do the same with the two younger ones.

Did anyone else see "The End" as a spoof of the TV show "Lost"? They kept saying that "everything washes up here eventually." That is the way I read it.

Charlotte Well I think the books are supposed to be dark, and he does warn them haha, I feel like he was was daring us to read the book or challenging us, saying that we couldn't do it. That's maybe why the reader kept reading, including children.

Stenedria I've read all of the books, but never seen the movie. I didn't want to be disappointed if the movie messed up the books. Plus, the movie only had the first 3 books of the series. I thought each book would have its own corresponding movie like the following series Harry Potter, Hunger Games, or Mortal Instruments.

✩ Its an okay series not good but okay.

Daniel Kallin One of the best series yet coming after Harry Potter, Percy Jackson.

Mariah I used to love this book series! I remember reading them all though I don't remember what happens in each of the books but I remember I read them and I loved them.

Light I think the series is not for children , It should be for adult because I think there are meanings before every word in this story children may don't get it.
the movie was so good but I wish there is movie for each book
Really love this series and wishing the end be happy just the end :)

Snowdrop, Daughter of Apollo I don't know what to think of this series... Though The Reptile Room is the one I reread the most.

Did you read Who Could That Be at This Hour?? It's related to ASOUE. (And I'm so sorry for replying now. This thread is like 2 years old XD)

emily I read this series a while ago, but I really liked it and I'm so excited for the TV show Netflix is making (I think its coming out some time in fall/winter 2016), which will hopefully be better than the movie. I still don't know if I should read Who Could That Be at This Hour, plus I've been busy lately reading a lot of other books. Is it good?

I loved Who Could That Be at This Hour. It's different that ASOUE, but since it's also narrated by Lemony Snicket, I think if you liked ASOUE, you'd really like it. And it actually answers some questions! Plus it's only 4 books, so it takes a lot less time to read than ASOUE.

And I'm so exited for the Netflix show! I really hope it's good :)
