Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments I think King's strongest writing is in his novellas and short stories. I haven't read this one yet, but I will get to it at some point.

Me too. I remember when I saw the movie, I felt like I "discovered" it, and I had to tell everyone about it. It didn't get a lot of PR or critical attention at first, but now it's considered one of the best movies ever made. And Stephen King hardly made anything for the movie rights. Though I think he's doing OK. : D

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4958 comments I heard Morgan Freeman's voice the whole time I was reading Shawshank. It's one of the movies I own, but stop and watch whenever it's on TV, including the annoying commercials!

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8528 comments Ha, OM ... I also watch it every time I see it playing on TV. I think I can probably quote most of the movie by now.

Zihuatanejo ...

Joy D | 10521 comments Regarding the Shawshank Redemption, I read a version where the film is discussed in supplemental material. There was a deliberate attempt to distance the film from Stephen King due to his connections to the horror genre and worries that it would get labeled that way. It's one of my favorite films, too.
