I love Donne. His career was fascinating and both his secular and holy works are deeply intriguing. From his bachelor days to his days as Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral his work is sharp, shrewd, memorable."Go and Catch a Falling Star" is a good example of his early work. I am new to the group, so I don't want to post anything until I see how the groups works.
Hi, Natalie. I started the group as an excuse to list the poetry for The Well Educated Mind by Susan Wise Bauer. I've been reading through her genre lists on my own since 2012, and I do not have set reading times or discussions for poetry.
However, if anyone wants to join in, they could either read the list on their own or use the haphazard times I may post in this group. It's very informal.
But while you are here, I do appreciate your input. It's actually inspiring. I have never read Donne before this, and my reading plans have changed drastically, especially since 2020; I have not slowed down to read deeply as I used to. So maybe I should go back and read your suggested title "Go and Catch a Falling Star" with your remarks in mind.

I am also skipping the Psalms bc I read those continually in my Bible reading all year long.
