"Luke told himself to go easy, but not just because his Padawan was his nephew. Far from it-family ties had little to do with the teachings of the Jedi Order that Luke had worked hard to re-establish. Detachment and distance were required for the pure focus the Jedi constantly strove to achieve, and for Luke, there was a simple satisfaction in adhering to those tenets."
What? Pretty sure a key part of Luke's arc in Empire is his refusal to give up on attachments and saving his friends against Yoda's wishes? His love for Leia and Han and his faith in his father all stemmed from attachments. So why is he suddenly following the Jedi code word for word and repeating the same mistakes as those before him?
i havent read the book but i dont mind spoilers. the fact that canon brings that up is certainly aligned with what we've seen so far in his recent TV appearance in Mandalorian, which personally bothered me as well. very off key for what the OT established his strength was as a Jedi, and to be better coming out of those dark times. i'm not exactly deep into legends stuff just quite yet either, but from what i've seen, it really does seem to handle the characters much better after OT. more consistent, at least.

Shadows of the Sith is on shelves today!!!!
I've been really excited to read this one!!
Happy reading!
