What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

My roommate is looking for a book that is involving a death that is assumed to be a drowning but then turns out not to be. She read it last year at the beginning of August. When she got it, it was quite worn and was a paperback that had a blueish green colour. It’s set in Winter and involves a guy who was convicted of the murder but was innocent. The man was caught in the car watching The best friend and she said they look creepy and then they found a ski mask and told the police about him. At one point there’s a party with drugs involved and a pinpoint item in the book is a scarf that was found along a Lakeshore.
