My library has finally gotten in a copy of Anne Holt's latest, The Lion's Mouth. The English translation came out in November 2014, but it took this long for it to come through the library system. So, this is what I'll be reading next.I haven't checked to see what kinds of reviews it's gotten here on GoodReads, since I generally avoid reading reviews until after I've finished a book.
I'm quite sure I'll be happy with it, Anne Holt (Norway) is way up there in my list of favorite Scandinavian authors.
I'm really torn, my local bookstore has a signed copy of Wolf Winter by Cecilia Ekbäck on sale in hardback for 40% off plus my 10% discount. My wife likes Viktor Arnar Ingolfsson from Iceland, I got all his books on my Kindle and it goes to her iPod automatically I've been buying books from the library for $.50 for years. The Kindle is a blessing (no room for any more books), she's been reading for a month at night to relax rather than TV. Maybe she has the bug by now.
I've just started Wolf Winter. I was a little hesitant to begin since I just finished Someone to Watch Over My by Y. Sigur. (you know who I mean!)(which was a fantastic read, by the way!)and I didn't think the time period (1600's) would interest me. But so far I am really enjoying it. I'd love to hear what you thought of it when you finish it.

But I'm sure many readers share the same experience. One might argue it won't be the same without actually holding a book. And they are absolutely right. But who says you should give it up. You can enjoy ebooks and books when ever you want to. Technology means we have a choice. Enjoy!
We have another book that has come out in English from the Norwegian Author Jørgen Brekke published on February 10, 2015, called Dreamless.

Thought I'd read it better on my Kindel.

Rather than trying 'new' authors, I think I'll continue playing catch-up with everyone I already know. So many to choose from! maybe another Helene Tursten, to bring me closer to her most recent, The Beige Man?

I've been waiting for an available copy from my library but apparently Wolf Winter is a popular book here in Illinois. I gave up and bought a copy for my Nook. Now I need to catch up with you.

I agree with you. She's realistic and the words follow naturally from a good story teller.

Well, you all made it sound so good I've downloaded Wolf Winter....

I have found another author Elsebeth Egholm Three Dog Night> I read and loved it and now reading Dead Souls I love her writing. Does anyone have any knowledge, information, opinions about this author. She writes about Denmark. Perhaps in a Johan Theroin vein rather than Insrididson or Mankell.
Lone wrote: "She is one of the absolute very best crime authors in Denmark."Thank you Lone. I am very impressed by her work and cannot wait until the next book is translated into English.
The last one from Elsebeth Egholm that came last summer in Denmark Was called "Kød og blod"in Danish translated to english it World be something like Meat and blood. - the frist crime where she is letting the two different head caracters have equal parts in the book. The next one that Elsebeth is writting on right now, is talking place on an Island called Gozo :-)
