Team Liwei vs Team Wenzhi?

gjlkdsjl I realise this is an old post but I agree with you. The funny thing is I don't even think he particularly needs redeeming, except for having taken the dragon pearls away from Xingyin. You can kind of plainly see the stitchings of the story in the way that the dragons claim they would die if they were made to fight, otherwise it would have honestly been a no-brainer to overthrow the Kingdom and take the seal that kept Chang'e imprisoned and be done with everything. Great! You've freed your mother and toppled a tyrannical ruler, too. But we can't let things be that simple.
I'm very much biased but Wenzhi also had the more interesting backstory...there's such a juicy plot to uncover in his family dynamic and at the demon court, such tension in the cutthroat rivalry with Wenshao. Who are their respective mothers? What does the rest of the court think of the two princes? I so badly wanted to see more of that place.

Ugh totally honestly I know it's supposed to be a triangle but for me when Liwei was getting engaged without even trying to do anything it was over for him.. Xingyin literally thought the same but she just kept going back to him which honeslty got on my nerves.
The worst off it all though, despite Liwei literally being engaged and not being together with Xingyin. He KEPT bothering her, like what right do you have to try and keep her on a line.

lol same
ok but like... why do people judge wenzhi for being demon like what???? why?????????? what is your reasoning????? liwei isnt special except for the fact that he's crown prince. i hate it sm when people judge characters for their rank or title when it's their personality we should look at. techinically wenzhi hasn't done anything wrong WITHOUT REASON but even though liwei was betrothed to fengmei he still kept seeing xingyin and literally asked her to save fengmei for him like LEAVE HER ALONE
Easy peasy Wenzhi. More compelling more interesting. The other relationship isn't bad but it also doesn't serve a big purpose besides getting the MC out of trouble. Maybe that simplistic. They do have a firendship. It's fine and all. I'm not surprised this book took the pridicable route. I think the Romance was kind of disappointing either way and the book seemed shallow. It wasn't bad but not budding with inspiration which is amazing since this genre has lots of potential. The two demnentionality of demonic sects = bad bad vs the courtly heavenlies is silly.
Cultivator stories don't always have demonic things as actually being evil. It depends which type and it seems like Wenzhi is more of a ghost sect which is kind of neutralish. Idk
I'm team liwei because I know he was betrothed but then he stopped the marriage and he didn't really have a choice because it was for his family. Xingyin would've done anything for her mother and Liwei still always cared and loved xingyin and was always so gentle. Also Wenzhi literally betrayed her so bad and it was so annoying. He literally imprisoned her and stole the pearls just as Xingyin got them. And he didn't even remorse. It's not because he is a demon but because what he do. I don't care what he does after this I am not forgiving him. What Wenzhi done was far worse.
Besides, Liwei was always so nice to Xingyin and I just love him way better.

I am team Wenzhi. I know I know! But hear me out.
Liwei has been there for Xingyin and everything but when he was betrothed to Fengmein he kind of broke the connection between the two and Wenzhi was there. Wenzhi is one of my favourite characters in the book so maybe my opinion can be considered a little biased but still. I believe he was always a good person and he didn't particularly hurt Xingyin and he's genuinely in love with her. He didn't do anything that Xingyin didn't do either. However, near the end of the book, I did start to see why Xingying and Liwei are a good couple so I accepted them. However, if Wenzhi has redeemed himself I would have been on his side a hundred percent of the way.
Who's team are you on?
