Unfortunately I don't know, I haven't seen the book itself. I'm just going by the description given on the page, which states: "Carefully retold in clear contemporary language, and presented with delightful illustrations, these favorite classic stories capture the heart and imagination of young readers. By retelling the story in a shorter, simpler form, these books become highly engaging for children, and the color illustrations help with both comprehension and interest level."
That description is not specific for this edition.Someone had marked the description that mentions it being retold as the default description, meaning that description shows on all editions that don't have their own description.

According to the Librarian note on this edition, this Scholastic paperback edition is abridged, not adapted.
Abridged editions should be combined.
This is not the original novel, but an abridged version retold in "modernised" language. I don't think this should be the default edition to appear - it isn't the original book (which all the reviews I've seen are actually talking about). Can something be done about this?
