Hi everyone,

I hope your summer is going well. We will begin online discussions of This Time Tomorrow on July 15th. This book is written by Emma Straub, the author of The Vacationers and All Adults Here. She also is the owner of the independent bookstore Books Are Magic in Brooklyn, New York.

Alice Stern is soon to be celebrating her 40th birthday. She wonders if there is a reason to celebrate this milestone. She has a place to live, a job,
etc. Alice's father is not well and that is on her mind. She falls asleep and awakens the next morning to find she has time traveled back to the 1990s when she is 16 years old. Revisiting her younger self, seeing her high school crush, friends etc. are exciting and challenging, but seeing her younger father is the most interesting reunion she could have.

Alice discovers a new perspective about her father and herself. Is Alice willing to change her past to make the future a better one? Would you change the past if you could? Do we risk changing history in order to make amends to mistakes we have made? We will find out what Alice decides to do.

I hope you will join us for the book selection. We hope you will share your thoughts online with us. Never pressure to be online with us. Join in if you would like to. Not reading with us this time? We appreciate your support as a Bookclub+ MPC member and don't forget to vote for our next Fall book club selections.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

-Donna

Colton CW (neuroticcat) | 71 comments Hi Donna. Hope you are having a good summer (especially with all the craziness going on in the world). It’s tough to stay positive but at least with movies, books, etc we can escape for a bit.

I am planning on reading This Time Tomorrow. I might be a bit late since I just started another book (Yerba Buena by Nina LaCour which I really really recommend by the way, it’s great so far, about two women who meet and fall in love but their past traumas catch up with them… some parts can be dark but other parts are really uplifting).

On another note, did you watch Season 4 of Stranger Things? I loved it!!! It was my favorite season since the first season.

Have a great weekend
Colton

Hi Colton,

Yes, I think many of us are escaping in our books, movies and music. I know I am. Stay hopeful, stay positive and take care of your health.

I'm so glad you are joining us for "This Time Tomorrow", join in when you can. Remember, there is no pressure to engage. Whenever you are ready, let us know what you think of the book.
Thanks for that book recommendation, I'm going to put that on my list of books to read. My "to read" list keeps getting bigger! Sounds like a great one to read.

I did see Season 4 of "Stranger Things" absolutely loved it. I have enjoyed every season. I was so excited to see Jamie Campbell Bower in the cast. I am always so impressed with the music they choose for each season. It brings back so many memories. It's nice that new audiences are discovering this songs for the first time. I don't want it to end. I want a happy ending for everyone, but as we have found out with each season, it's not always a happy ending. Winona Ryder is one of my favorites as well and I'm so glad she was given this opportunity to show the world she is still so wonderful to watch on the screen.

I hope your Summer is going well, take care! and keep letting us know what you are reading and watching.

Sincerely,

-Donna
