M.G. King (mgking) | 727 comments My 3rd grade year I read the entire library shelf (43 books!) of Nancy Drew. I loved zipping around with her in her little blue convertible and putting away the bad guys. Who are your favorite middle grade sleuths? Nominate a book or the first in a series with a savvy clue-finding main character!

Please nominate books with a copyright 2013 or earlier, so that they are easier to find and borrow from friends and libraries. We don't want anyone to have to buy a book to participate.

Ready. Set. Nominate!

Jim Maher | 28 comments Encyclopedia Brown was always a favourite of mine. Such simple solutions that sometimes didn't make sense until I was way older.

The Westing Game has always been one of my favorites : )

I was always more partial to the Hardy Boys than Nancy Drew.

Three Times Lucky is a mystery, and if I recall correctly, the MC actually sets herself up as a detective, so it's right on target for this one. Good, fun book. Though I still love Frank and Joe ;)

message 5: by Nicole (new)

Nicole "I'd Tell You I Love You but Then I'd Have to Kill You" by Ally Carter (First book in the Gallagher Girls Series) The girls are secret spies.

Donna Galanti (donnagalanti) | 20 comments I adore Trixie Belden by Julie Campbell! Or is that going too far back? haven't read her in years. This is the first one: The Secret of the Mansion (Trixie Belden #1) by Julie Campbell
May be old but how nice to share with our own kids and revive oldies but goodies :)

Donna Galanti (donnagalanti) | 20 comments Or for something new, here is a new series by F.T. Bradley called DOUBLE VISION. First book came out a couple years ago. Kid agents caught up in a spy mission. For fans of 39 Clues.
Double Vision (Double Vision, #1) by F.T. Bradley

Kat O'B I'll second Three Times Lucky or Double Vision- would like to read both of these!

message 9: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Look Into My Eyes (Ruby Redfort, #1) by Lauren Child
I'm curious about Look Into My Eyes, the first Ruby Redfort book by Lauren Child, the creator of Clarice Bean and Charlie & Lola.

I did like Trixie Belden - but I think they're *too* old just because most libraries have culled them, and so then we'd "have to buy a book to participate." :(

I can recommended Double Vision, it's a great read. I have book 2 on its way from the Book Repository at the moment.
