You didn't like this series? I'm still on the first book lol

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven’t finished the series…but soon I’ll wrestle down the other books so I can read them.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

oooh I need to get on this still. Book 1 is sitting on my shelf

I didn’t like how they just set it in Beijing so it would be a new place to base a book. There was barely any Chinese culture rep. All I saw was a buddha statue, bamboo and robes. But other then that it didn’t feel like it was really in Beijing.

I can see that. Also the pandemic stuff doesn't fully make sense. It mentions how there's no cures or treatments for it, instead everyone (who isn't a Lunar) dies (despite the illness being around for many years). That doesn't sound realistic, seeing as how we had treatments for COVID within a year (for sure two) to help people. It's a futuristic novel. You'd figure they'd have better medical care.

I know right? I guess it was just supposed to be since the Lunars were so powerful and different, the humans couldn’t find a treatment?? But i agree with you. I’m no mathematical genius, but something doesn’t add up.

Like..seriously. We're living in a pandemic, and this doesn't feel right. Something isn't adding up. It sounds like excessively unrealistic dystopian/fantasy stuff to me

I know. We know how to live in a pandemic, and the blue fever just sounds kinds stupid. I mean, no one can find a cure? Really? Also, it seems like in Marissa Meyer’s world, the future seems dirty. In one description in the book, it tells how crowded and dirty some of the streets are.

Yeah, it just doesn't make sense as a whole

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah…
Also, are Marissa Meyer and Stephenie Meyer related?

joyous (❁´◡`❁) (joywillowronan) Actually, in the first book it was said that they were trying to find a cure...but you are right- New Beijing was just like how Beijing would be 1000years back :(
