Turns out Ethan has followed Garrett every Tuesday night as she ventures into that bad neighborhood. Should he have considered that Jasper Jenkyn may track him?

Ethan wasn't concerned about Jasper Jenkyn at that time, but he should have been more aware that there was someone following him.

I thought he should have sensed he was being followed, too. Garrett was a bigger distraction than I gave her credit for doing. But I also think he should have considered that Jenkyn might always be looking for his vulnerabilities. He may have thought that he’d never turn on him.

Ethan was cautious about Jenkyn, but I don't think he believed him to be a threat to him. Garrett was a big distraction and Ethan should have definitely been aware he was being followed.

While Ethan was lurking in the dark and following Garrett home, he should have noticed that someone was on his tail too.

I agree. It seems out of character that Ethan didn't suspect he was followed, but Garrett put him off his game.

He was so taken with Garrett, he wasn't paying as close attention as he should have.
