It was a rational decision. He had to trust someone with the authority to do something to stop Jenkyn.
I thought so, too, until he met with him. I knew Ethan was in trouble based on Felbrigg’s reaction. I think Ethan felt shaky about it, too.
Felbrigg’s public feud with Jenkyn was epic and Ethan’s rationale seemed good on paper. Shoulda worked.

I don't believe Felbrigg was looking for power but the advantage of doing something that would have Jenkyn, the man with power, look on him favorably. Felbrigg seems weak to me. I don't think he would ever have real power.
