Technically I didn't cry but it's definitely heartbreaking following the story of this young couple who can't seem to connect or find their place in the World. And they're not the only ones. The author exposes the cracks in the facade of every character in the book. So many disappointed people. Very sad but beautifully written.

The problem with this book was that in delineating the tedium of suburban America; Yates made the book dull and tedious. Reading it felt like a never ending episode of Mad Men. All characters and situations are described in immaculate prose but unfortunately it also has the effect of dulling the pace.
