The Moon by Night by Madeleine L'Engle
Seacrow Island by Astrid Lindgren

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy by Jeanne Birdsall
A Wrinkle in Time: The Graphic Novel by Madeline L'Engle and Hope Larson - this is currently on sale on Amazon for $0.99, though I don't know how long that will last.

So did Jennifer, Patricia - have another go. :)

I also want to read the The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy just like Jennifer did so I second the book. Is that okay?

Well, you can, but it makes absolutely no difference to whether it gets picked.

I'm nominating Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce.
It was reissued in 2008 and audiobooks came out after that, so hopefully it will be in your libraries. I always thought it far superior to A Secret Garden :D

Nominations are now closed.
You can vote for the one you’d like here;

Voting ends on the 24th.
I left out Wrinkle in Time as we have been talking about later books in the series in another thread, and also have another Madeleine L’Engle nomination.

And the winner is...
The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy
I'm very pleased as I've been wanting to read this since we last nominated it for a summer read (it didn't win that year!)
So... go out and get your copies!

Not the one I voted for, but worth rereading.

I probably wanted to read it after reading your review :D

No problem, Scott. I'll be putting up a new 'BOTM for September' thread in a couple of days. There's encouraging advice for readers, I hope, but usually people say what they think of the book after they've read it. We just ask you don't reveal key plot points (spoilers) in case those who haven't finished read the thread first.
We don't have any set interval questions - it's hard enough for everybody to get hold of the book within the month :)

So... to extend the summer a little, how about a theme of 'what I did in my holidays'?
Books should be about, or involve, or take place on, holidays/vacations.
Please remember that your nominations should be readily available (in libraries, preferably internationally, or budget price available). Also, we should not have read your nomination in BOTM in the last four years. Check the Master List on this Book of the Month thread for guidance.
As usual, I'll see how we go and either post a poll mid-month, or earlier if there are lots of nominations.
