Just finished "Anthrax Island" and thoroughly enjoyed it. For me, the ending had some very unexpected twists and turns.

Just finished with - and maybe this belongs in the "how soon do you give up on a book" topic - a legal thriller called "Once A Liar." The book is told in alternating narratives of the main character, a cutthroat lawyer, the "Then" that tells about his rise to the top of his profession and the "Now" that deals with his present crisis.I got maybe 80 pages in. From the jacket I knew he was going to be accused of murdering an ex lover, the daughter of his arch rival DA. The beginning goes slowly through backstory, the death of his ex wife and he and his present wife taking custody of his teenage son by the late ex. Back and forth, back and forth and so slowly that I figured out the whodunit and pretty much the whydunit and there was nothing about the book that made me want to invest more time in seeing how the author got there.
I read book 13 in the Jesse Stone series, Robert B. Parker's Blind Spot by Reed Farrel ColemanI enjoyed it and recommend reading this series in order. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

In the latest episode of the No 1 Ladies Detective series
A Song of Comfortable Chairs by Alexander McCall Smith, the lady detectives don't have any new cases to solve, but put their formidable talents to try to help Grace's husband save his furniture business from an unscrupulous competitor and to help a woman get her difficult teenage son to accept her new boyfriend. As always a delightful read!review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I read The Lipstick Bureau by Michelle Gable It is a pleasant historical fiction book set in WWII Rome. The OSS has an office of Morale Operations, tasked with distributing black propaganda in occupied Europe. This book is loosely based on a real person who worked in that office. I finished Exiles by Jane Harper releasing in the US Jan. 31, 2023. This is the 3rd and final book in the Aaron Falk series and so worthy of being the finale. It's an intricate, character driven, cleverly plotted mystery that absolutely mesmerized me. 5 Stars. My Review
I finished the new deluxe version of The Godfather by Mario Puzo (couldn't find the new version in the drop down menu but it is on Goodreads as you can see below). This book is a classic for a reason - 5 Stars for sure! And the new 50th Anniversary Deluxe version is simply stunning. I was fortunate to receive a hardback copy from the publisher and was blown away by it. Hardcore fans will delight in this must have collector's edition. My Review

I found B.A. Paris's latest novel
The Prisoner a bit disappointing. An interesting premise, but never very suspenseful and too much explanation of the plot left to the end. review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
