i recently read Spilled Milk by K.L Randis. the relationship between the main character Brooke and her first counsellor is beautiful to see. Randis describes how just sitting in that room and talking about school made life easier when she wasn’t ready to talk about the abuse at home. sometimes we need to just be a safe place for our clients to come to, rather than impart great wisdom. being a safe and reliable adult who shows up, is enough
