I know that there have been some really tough times for Sean, Jesse's rescue was one, but I can't remember a time that he was so without hope or a plan. I think part of it was his not telling Lucy about his meeting with Mona and also that she just might believe that he has actually killed her.
They really played a mind game on him, starting from the moment he was arrested. I think that was the plan, to demoralize him at every stage of the process. By the time he got in that cell, he felt worthless. It was hard to read/listen to. When he cried in that cell, it broke my heart.
For nearly a whole day Sean was handcuffed, transported to Houston, booked and processed without having anyone who believed in him by his side. He knew he couldn't just break out of jail and solve this murder himself. He needed help and his usual group of friends wasn't available to him. He had no control of the situation and until his lawyer showed up, he was left floundering.I do think part of the difference this time was worrying that Lucy may believe the accusation that he killed Mona, especially since he had never told her that he went to Houston for the meeting.
