Stranger Things Role-Play discussion

It was a really slow day, so Robin was sitting in the window behind the counter, her head leaning against the flimsy glass with one pen in her hand and one hand between her teeth. The stack of papers on her knees seemed to frustrate her incredibly as her brows were permanently furrowed in a bit of a death stare. As Dustin walked into the parlour, she threw her hands up in the air and chucked the stack onto the counter. "It's my saviour!" She said dramatically in a breathy voice and did a little fake bow. "What can I get you Henderson?"
Dustin let out his usual laugh. “Hi, Robin!”
His gaze flickered over to the stack of papers she had practically thrown onto the smooth counter.
“I'll just take a chocolate cone. Is he here?”
Robin grinned when Dustin asked for a certain someone and pointed towards the papers. "No, but you can bring these to him once you find him."
She turned around and scooped a very generous amount of chocolate ice cream into a cone and then leaned against the counter, handed it to Dustin and looked him deep in the eyes.
"And ask him whether he's serious with what he's written or if this is actually supposed to be his motivation letter," she wiped her hands on her apron and gathered the pages together in surprisingly the right order.
"Because he only asked me to spell check, which I did. But it's not a good motivation letter in general," she said, her voice caring, but still a little snarky.
“Seriously?” Dustin questioned, taking the cone out of Robin's hand.
“How come I have to give him the papers?” He pouted slightly, leaning a little off to the right just to peer over and double-check to make sure Steve wasn't hiding somewhere.
“Plus, where is Harrington anyways?”
Robin pushed the stack of papers towards him. "You can read it, there's no real secrets in there and Steve was very proud of it, so I assume he'd be delighted if you read it too. But I'm sure you can see that quite frankly and simply, it sucks," Robin said in a theatrical manner and handed Dustin a little napkin on top in case some of the ice cream got on his fingers.
"And I'm not really sure where he is, but I know what he's doing," Robin's eyebrows raised, "Steve has finally managed to get himself a date, so I offered to cover for him."
((Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I've been busy with school and haven't really had the mental energy to respond to roleplays! My sincerest of apologies for making you wait.))
Dustin glanced at the papers, his smile returning as the corners of his mouth formed into a 'u' almost.
“He got a date?” Dustin gasped, trying to act surprised, perhaps even offended if possible. Beforehand, he had placed his available hand to his chest before letting it drop back down to his sides. Of course his other hand was busy holding the ice cream, which he now ate with delight. “You're sure we're talking about Steve Harrington? Sure, he's like my second mom and all, but what?”
((No worries at all! :) hope you're not too busy!!))Robin beamed at him and nodded.
"Yep, Steve Harrington. Got himself a date. Sure, he did need a little help with it, but he did it and-" Robin looked at her watch briefly, "-yep, it's been like two hours now, so I do assume that it's going well," she nodded, genuinely proud of Steve.
((Yeah…I’ll try my best to respond as soon as possible. I promise to be more active, lol—I have a bit of free time currently. I’m in school at the moment and felt the need to reply-))
Continuing to smile his toothless smile, Dustin laughed. “I’m happy to hear that.” He paused, eating his ice cream.
“I have a question,” He begun, looking up at Robin.
((It's okay, I'm pretty patient :) Hope you don't get in trouble lol ))Robin was still smiling and nodded at Dustin eating his ice cream and resumed wiping the counter, which frankly should have already been done about three hours ago. When Dustin spoke again, she peeked from under the slab and put her chin up on her hands. "Yeah, what's up?" she asked, her eyebrows raised slightly.
((I'll be fine, lol. I think- :'D))
Dustin thought about what he was going to ask, visibly thinking on how to word it. Of course he knew the question, but, how should he say it?
“Have you met one of my other friends Will yet?” He spoke up. Per waiting for the female's response, he took more bites from his ice cream, almost finished with it. A little bit dripped through the bottom of the cone, which then melted into the napkin.
((Hahah now i was the one who took a while lol sorry)) Robin shook her head and straightened back up from behind the counter, the now nasty rag in her hand, which she promptly threw back into the sink. "I have heard loads about him, but we haven't the pleasure to meet yet," she said, turning on the water. "Wait," she spun on her heel, "okay, I've seen him. He'd always come in with the others to watch the movies. But we've never talked, if that's what you mean," she finished the monologue that should have been one word, the water behind her still running.
((Lol—no worries xD))
Dustin nodded. “I haven’t seen him in a while, but I’ve been meaning to ask him something and I was wondering if you could help me. Or, well, at least figure it out. I have a suspicion about something.”
"Yeah, sure, what is it?" Robin asked, kind of having a hunch about Dustin's question, but she didn't want to assume. She turned off the water tap and then went around the counter to sit next to Dustin, leaning against the customer's side of the counter with her elbows.
“Well, that’s the thing. I’m not entirely sure myself. But I think he’s not…” Dustin stopped, trying to think of what to say. He glanced at Robin and raised a brow as if hoping she’d know where he was going with this.
Robin gave him an understanding look and ran a hand through her hair. "Okay, I hear what you're saying and I'm happy to have a talk with him, see if he's okay... but he needs to tell us himself, if that's what you mean," Robin said, trying to put herself in Will's shoes and to come up with ways how to make him the most comfortable. "You know, you can bring him in for ice cream...and I can come up with something," she said, having no clear idea yet.
“I don’t really want to pry the information, but just seeing. Could I use the phone?” Dustin nodded his head over to where the phone would be located in the back. “Oh, and plus you’d get to actually meet him.”
"Sure, to be honest Steve or I have never used it before, I'm not even sure if it works-" she trailed off before really finishing the sentence.
“Well then I’ll go try it out!” Dustin beamed, heading over to where the phone was located. Dialing the Byers house phone, he waited..
—————
Once he hung up, he went back over to Robin. “He’s coming.”
((Ahhh loved seeing in in the other thread as well (: ))While Dustin was calling, Robin smiled to herself. For some reason, it made her feel like a pretty cool auntie, which, to be honest, she always wished for. Her inner monologue just got interrupted when Dustin said that Will would be coming. "Cool, wow, quick on your feet, aren't you," she said, actually kind of meaning it as both a backhanded compliment and an actual compliment. "Does Will like waffles?" she asked randomly, thinking that maybe it'd make Will feel more welcome to have something he liked.
((Lol—thank you. :D I had two tabs open to do that. It’s why they posted at the same time :’3))
Dustin nodded twice—the first time being after the first statement Robin had made, and the second to answer her question. “Not as much as El, but he does like waffles. He’ll be here in about 15 minutes.”
((Love the dedication!))"Well, if there's anything we have," Robin pointed to the messy menu board, "I can make it," she said, briefly squinting at the letters. "Except for the tiramisu style toffee surprise, that one is rank," Robin said matter-of-factly, waiting for Dustin to choose.
((Your support is appreciated <3))
Dustin looked towards the menu, scanning what was listed. “He’s not very picky, knowing him. He’d probably just get a vanilla with caramel on it. He used to ask if those were available any time an ice cream truck came by. So yeah, he’d like that.” Dustin concluded.
"Okay, coming right up," Robin joked and started preparing the sundae, just in time before Will was coming. So it wouldn't all melt, duh.
Dustin leaned against the counter, occasionally checking his watch or the clock on the wall. Then, standing in front of the entrance to Scoops Ahoy, the Byers Dustin had called entered view. He waved to them and walked over.
“Hello,” he smiled, nodding at Dustin and then Robin, who he had seen a few times.
"Hey!" Robin said cheerfully, not sure what to do with her hands, "it's good to finally meet you properly," she said awkwardly with a little smile and held out her hand.
Robin chuckled. "Yep, Robin. And you're Will," she said, withdrawing her hand. "God this is awkward, but I swear it was Dustin's idea," she gestured towards Dustin just to make it clear that if Will felt uncomfortable at any moment, it was definitely, definitely not her fault. She then turned around and finished making the sundae and pushed it towards him.
He spoke shyly, his eyes averting to the floor before he looked back up at Robin, then at Dustin. “Alright. That just confirms who really invited me here.” Will glared at Dustin, but not necessarily in a harsh manner. Dustin stared back but with a goofy grin spreading from ear to ear.
“Oh, uh, thanks for the sundae!” Will beamed, taking it from Robin. ‘Presumably Dustin told her what I used to get all the time.’
Dustin seemed proud of himself. “I’ll admit,” Will began. “I’ve heard a lot about you and Steve within the past couple of months.”
Robin smiled as Will seemed to like the sundae and then pretended to be shocked as he said he's heard a lot about her and Steve. "Oh, from Dustin?" she said, narrowing her eyes at Dustin jokingly, "well, then that's really bad, but I promise we're not nearly as bad as he makes us to be," she joked. "I'd just like to disclose that anything illegal was in fact done by Steve," she said with fake confidence and then sat down opposite of Will.
“Oh! No, no, no, it’s all good, I assure you. I didn’t mean that in a bad way at all. Plus I already know most of the things Steve has done because of my brother.” Will grinned sheepishly, raising his hands up. Dustin returned the eye-narrow to Robin without any harm done in it. Dustin then sat down next to Will, who scooted over kindly so he could take a seat.
Robin laughed gently as Will started excusing himself. "No, don't worry, I wasn't serious either," she said, shaking her head. "But I can totally understand whatever I think Jonathan has said about Steve," she said, not looking at either of them at the moment. "I used to sit behind Steve in History class and jesus, he was a complete douchebag. I don't know what changed," she gave both Will and Dustin a little smile, "but his personality really did a 180...," she said, her voice a little reminiscing."Anyway, what did you hear about me?" she asked curiously.
Will shyly smiled at her, relief washing over him. “Yeah. He and Steve aren’t really . . . Pals, I guess.” He shrugged, scratching the back of his head anxiously. He fiddled with his sleeves after that.
“180?! More like 250!” Dustin responded, raising his hands up. His blue eyes gleamed in the light that lit up the shop.
Will giggled, looking down at the table. “Well, why don’t you tell her, Dustin?”
“In all reality—to be fair—I only told him that you worked here, you were best friends with Harrington, aaaaand….also the fact you have a scoreboard and invaded a Russian Spy hideout-“ Dustin beamed.
"I saw him break his camera..." Robin said, trailing off and then nodding at Dustin when he corrected her. "You're not wrong," she admitted, kind of lost in her thoughts for a second and then listened to Dustin when he listed everything. So, flying under the radar didn't really seem to work out as well as she thought, did it? She seemed to have made a bit of an impression and she wasn't sure how she felt about it. Definitely a bit smug, but also slightly self-conscious since she wasn't used to receiving this much praise. She grinned at Will, "I think I have a fan," she whispered, kind of hiding the nervous feeling.
Will nodded at the camera bit with a quiet, dull sigh that was hardly noticeable. Dustin left his goofy grin on, then made a flabbergasted expression at Robin. “Fan?” - “He could be,” the bowl-cut haired boy whispered back, smiling at her. He could guess exactly how she felt right now and it was completely understandable. Dustin had invited a complete stranger basically over to chat with them, and because Will had spent so much time under cover, he could read people’s emotions like an open book.
((So sorry for the late answer!!))Robin grinned back at Will. "Well, either way, I'm very happy to meet you, Will, and if Dustin thought it would be a good idea for us to meet, then it's probably right," she said, raising her eyebrows right back at the other child and then pulled her knee up on the chair. "Which makes me think that you didn't bring Will to just have a sundae - is there anything you guys would like to tell me?" She knew already that Dustin wanted her to have a chat with Will, but this felt like a good way for her to start the conversation - to act clueless. And also to shift the blame to Dustin.
((You’re fine! xD
“Yeah, I agree.” Will returned. Dustin nodded at the second statement, while Will shifted in his seat. Dustin glanced at him before saying, “I don’t have anything. I was just bored.” He said simply. Will bit his bottom lip and looked off to the side before looking back at the two of them. “No….not really…” He whispered. “But has anyone seen M—..Lucas! I haven’t seen Lucas in a while. Or Steve, for that matter. Actually, everybody if I’m to be honest here.”
