Denise and I have decided to read the same book, Cold Killing by Luke Delaney. I'm looking forward to it!
I'm going to read either Glazed Murder or The House of Silk when they arrive. I don't know what you're reading yet, Autumn.
E and our lovely booklady Anne
I really enjoyed Plum Island, my first book by this author and I did like the fiery John Corley.
Have bought the second in the series.
Yes looking forward to reading Black Flowers with Lisa

I'm patiently waiting for the first bug :~)
*Spoiler alert* I am finding THE HOUSE OF SILK interesting because its written so that it seems Dr. Watson is writing the story in 1914.... .*Spoiler alert ends*

"Its a great read. It was the book pal book of the month for me and Freda. Highly recommended. We are still discussing the book and the characters...
Yes! I love having Gopal for a book pal. I'm not just enjoying the discussions we have but I'm learning from him as well! He definitely makes me think! My only hope is that he is enjoying my simple thoughts as much as I am enjoying his substantially educated mind. I really recommend the book I Am Pilgrim
Unfortunately, I am having trouble communicating with my March book pal. I know she is an author and very busy, but I do hope we find a book to read soon. :)
Freda wrote: "Yes! I love having Gopal for a book pal. I'm not just enjoying the discussions we have but I'm learning from him as well! He definitely makes me think! What's that crack about your thoughts being simple, my friend they are not simple, in fact your thoughts got me thinking about the story line which then kick started my "substantially educated mind" . So no putting yourself down pal. ;)

Let us wait a couple/few more days and I'll let you know. Thanks Gopal! :o)
Can't wait to start The Man in the High Castle which I'm reading with Shivam. Unfortunately, I've had a sinus infection. It's getting better so I'm hoping to start today or this weekend. (They're forecasting 70 degrees!!!)
WTF?! Holmes framed for murder and Watson's gotta break him out of jail or he will be murdered in 48 hours?! (The House of Silk)... .
Just finished The Man in the High Castle
by Philip K. Dickhttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Waiting to see what Shivam thought!
I just finished The House of Silk last night.*Major Spoiler Alert*
Watson met with someone he believes to have been professor Moriarty who tells him he was trying to direct Holmes' attention to the group known as The House of Silk because he thought that the way the patrons treated little boys was despicable...then he hands Watson the key to Holmes' jail cell from when he was framed for murder... .
*End Major Spoiler Alert*
This was really a surprising book for me, even given my love of Holmes... .
Malia chose The Monster of Florence for me. It's a non-fiction account of a serial murderer in Florence during the 70's and 80's. The author is Douglas Preston (of the Pendergast series) who actually became somewhat embroiled in the case in 2000. I'm about a third of the way through and what I find most interesting is that I can see how Preston's time spent in Florence influenced some of his writing in the Pendergast series.
Be sure if you include spoilers in your review that you use the spoiler link in (some html is ok). That way people like me, will not be tempted to read it! :) (view spoiler)

I finished Eeny Meeny a while back it was recommended to me at my local library and what a fantastic book full of twists and turns I gave it 5 stars
My first book by this author and had read many good reviews for this book, so chose this for myself and my book pal Lisa for March.
Black flowers for the missing ones mean they're never coming back, in a chilling new tale from a master of modern crime.
This is not a story about a girl who disappears. This is the story of a little girl who comes back. As if from nowhere, she appears one day on a seaside promenade, with a black flower and a horrifying story about where she's been. But telling that story will start a chain reaction of dangerous lies and deadly illusions that will claim many more victims in the years to come. Neil Dawson has grown up wanting to be like his father—a writer. When his father commits suicide, he is devastated. But through his grief, Neil knows something isn't right. Looking through his father's papers, he finds a copy of an old novel, The Black Flower. Opening it will take Neil into an investigation full of danger, pain, and subterfuge. Hannah Price is also mourning her father. She followed his footsteps into the police force, and knows she has a big reputation to live up to. When she gets assigned to Neil's father's case, it will lead her on a journey into her own past and to the heart of a shattering secret.
The fact that you have a story being told within another story is ingenious and Mosby does it in an amazingly good way. You get pieces and pieces of information -some real, some fictional- and you have to put them all together to see the whole picture. Of course, you have a great help from the main characters, each one investigating in their own way the same past story at the same time.
The book also involves a serial killer, but not just any old serial killer, he's really clever and smart this one, he's twisted and sick, but he's evaded the eyes of the world for a very long time. The horror and chills that the book evokes from the scenes describing the killer, his motives, his thinking and his deadly methods were heart stopping. I had moments of thinking I wanted to dive into the book and shout at the victim or help them, or anything. Instead I watched him do his work. Not pleasant. You will never think of flowers the same way again after reading this book.
A complex but gripping story that holds your attention to the last page.
Why only a four star, mainly because so many characters to remember from the past and present.
I just finished The Monster of Florence and have to say it was very interesting. It's the non-fiction account of a serial killer that killed in and around Florence, Italy from the 60's to the 80's. There was an afterword in the edition that I read linking the Monster of Florence story with the recent murder of Meredith Kercher and the subsequent trial of Amanda Knox.
I definitely recommend this book.

Both for the serial killer and the crazy system of "justice" in Italy. I agree it was very good at explaining what Amanda Knox went through.
I am more than half-way finish with Now You See Me less than 160 pages left. There is a serial killer who is duplicating the killings of Jack the Ripper from the 19th century. The killer has the police baffled. But, the relationship between detectives Flint and Joesbury keeps this book interesting. I am curious in finding out the killer.

Now You See Me. I just finished this book. There is a serial killer who is duplicating the killings of Jack the Ripper from the 19th century. The killer has the police baffled. But, the relationship between detectives Flint and Joesbury keeps this book interesting. The end is a shocker and worth reading to the end. The writing style was easy to follow. As a reader, I felt I was actually on the scene of the crimes and felt the frustration of the detectives in solving this case. The crimes do take place in the United Kingdom; therefore, you have the slang and vocabulary associated with that region of the country. Do not spend too much time on that or you will miss the action. Good Read.Quote from Book:
Mark Joesbury was shaking his head at me, like I was something forced into his way but far beneath his notice.
Maryann and I read Plum Island by Nelson DeMille together. I really enjoyed the book. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It is a great book Freda.
We have quite a few Nelson De Mille, John Corley fans here.
I have the second on to read, a bit behind and the 7th is out soon.
A lot of these books are bought for movies.

Now You See Me, a great book by Sharon Bolton, a great writer, and so popular here
