La Crosse Hmong New Year is being celebrated the weekend of September 24th, 2022 this year. To join in celebration of Hmong culture in our community, we have invited Mai Neng Moua, author of The Bride Price, to participate in a book discussion on her book, and host a book reading and signing.

When: Monday, September 19th
2:00 – Book discussion with the author
6:00 – Mai Neng Moua will read from her book, followed by a book signing
How to get a copy of her book: We have copies available for checkout at each La Crosse County Library location!

Bangor native Gary F. Jones will give a talk about his new book, The Iceman's Curse, a medical thriller set in Kirby, Wisconsin. He will also sign copies available for sale at the event.

About the author:
Jones was raised on a dairy farm, practiced veterinary medicine on WI farms for 19 years, earned a PhD in microbiology, and worked on veterinary vaccines for 19 years. Since retiring, he has published three novels.

Lydia Niebuhr has published 11 middle grade books, one historical fiction novel, and three mysteries. Join us to learn more about her historical fiction novel, Under the Daytime Moon, which is centered around the 1862 Dakota Conflict in Minnesota.

Jones will give a talk about his new book, Stalking Throckmorton, in which Chris Throckmorton races a killer to find a treasure hidden by his great-grandfather under the village brewery (based on the Bangor Brewery). Jones will also sign copies available for sale at the event.
