Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Yes still will be reading the book. I'll start around the 3rd of September.

Night Shift (view spoiler)[ i like that these women's story are all different and how they ended up on the night shift. The one who's ina bad way in my opinion is Yoshie with her daughter and mother in law. I hope that she'll eventually stand up and tell off her daughter and MIL how she feels. Yayoi just snapped! When without hesitation she strangled her husband was shocking. Pretty sure Satake will be involved since he said in front of witnesses he would kill Yamamoto. Yamamoto was an ass. I like Masako is so level-headed but it was weird that she looked at the body and said it was just a job. (hide spoiler)]

Bathroom (view spoiler)[ the body part cutting was disgusting. Didn't expect all the descriptions. The 4 women have miserable lives. The way the men treat women that are over 30 is very upfront in this book. The mothers are basically treated as slaves especially Yoshie, she's being taken advantage by her MIl and now 2 daughters and a grandson is now in the picture. I feel the parts that are thrown ed in the park will be the first ones discovered. Wonder what part Kazuo will play in all of this (hide spoiler)]

Oh my oh my. I am not usually bothered by slashers but I totally agree with you that (view spoiler)[the cutting bodies scenes were very reminiscent of Hostel for me (hide spoiler)]. I appreciate them being there tbh, I think it fit the characters' resilience and desire to never backtrack back to where they came from.

I hope to finish it this weekend!

(view spoiler)[ very weird and disturbing book. Really went to a place I didn’t expect. Satake's violent and obsessive behavior. Masako's weird att8tude but she was the level-headed one. She knew things might happened while the others didn’t. I was surprised that it was Kuniko and not Yayoi who got killed, was it becayse she had kids? They al, had miserable lives. I wonder if Yoshie set the fire, it was too convenient that she showed up at work and there was a fire and for it to be burned to the ground. I think that was her way to get free from responsibilities of taking care of her Mil. I thought Masako would leave with Kazuo, yhe last moment she had with Satake was weird with yhem in some ways connecting. At least she has the money and can rebuild a life (hide spoiler)]
