Heeeelloooo, everyone! It's time for a new round of nominations. Please nominate up to two books, written by women, that have not been read by the group for the past three years. They must be at least 50 years old. Also, please let me know if you're able to lead the discussion. Nominations will close September 15th.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's picks!

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 447 comments Yay for celebrating Banned Books Month, Emily! I’m running a special event in my Little Free Library, stocking it with banned classics every week.

Jan Z (jrgreads) | 466 comments My favorite banned book is Bad Kitty Christmas. It is such a sweet story. Its a picture book. Check it out. How absurd to ban it.

I am teaching a class on banned Newbery Medal winning books. Just finished discussing A Wrinkle in Time. Next week is Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

message 15: by Jan (new)

Jan Z (jrgreads) | 466 comments I prefer Roll of Thunder. Just a personal preference, probably because it is realistic. Okay, maybe some things in Bad Kitty are not.

Roll of Thunder is a great book. I prefer realistic fiction over sci-fi/fantasy.

Marilyn Yay, I am glad to finally get the push to read this.

Edna O'Brien is 92 years old, living in London and still writing. Her new play "Joyce's Women" is currently playing at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.
