I'm totally the other hobbits that are like "no thank you, no excitement wanted" lol. I'm happy to sit home and read about other adventures.I read Hobbit with a couple of my kids not too terribly long ago, but if I can get the audio maybe I'll listen again this month.
I may join this one also. I've lost count of the number of times I've read The Hobbit. My first foray was in 1973 when I was in college (not for a class). Although I can say I've read The Hobbit every time I've read Lord of the Rings trilogy, the opposite is not true. So I've read The Hobbit more often. No problem adding one more time to the list.Britt, I'd loan you my copy of audio but it is Audible and you can't share Audible files like you can MP3 recordings.
As much as I love the story of Lord of the Rings, I have a hard time getting through it. Tolkien is the MASTER world builder but I don't always actually enjoy his writing. *facepalm*
I think I got it on Audible. I have three or four Reader's Choice audiobooks checked out, but maybe after that I can fit it in.

I'm a comfort hobbit, too. My adventures are usually long thought out and planned and then, I just want to go home.

I have a hobbit costume for Comic Con. I briefly considered an elf, but I'm too short, I have curly hair, love food, and love staying home.
I finally read Shipwreck Hunter! Very interesting history. It looks like others beat Mearns to Endurance, though. Tried posting on the June thread but it wasn't working.
I enjoy the story of the Hobbit but have never made it through the book. It was the book of the term during my Sr. Year remedial English class. After 3 days of trying to slog through the book with all of us reading my teacher caved got the move and snacks instead 😆
I'm reading this, but it's going slow. It did not help that I lost my tablet, making it a tad harder to read the ebook. If you lock this thread at the end of September, I'll probably post completing in the October thread.
I was going to listen to the BBC Radio Production but Bilbo keeps interrupting the narrator and it's driving me nuts lol.
On Facebook I saw a cute cartoon. Hemmingway is at the Pearly Gates. He asks St. Peter "Who will be the longest revered author of the 20th century? Me? Fitzgerald? Joyce? Faulkner? Proust? Me?" St. Peter bends down and, so no one else hears, whispers the answer in Hemmingway's ear. Looking startled, Hemmingway asks one more question. "What the heck is a hobbit?"

Things to think about...
Do you like an adventure? How do you think you would respond to a last minute, rush out the door adventure with no handkerchief?
Gollum is a creepy, disturbing creature. What about Gollum creeps you out the most?
