Crap. A really good writer who showed a supposed literary backwater could be both entertaining and thoughtful.

In his honor I’m read Ghost Story.

This is a heartbreaker.

No more Stephen King collabs... ugh!

For anyone interested, his daughter Emma posted a touching thread last night on Twitter. Just look for Emma Straub and it should be easy to find.

One of my favorite horror writers, and probably among the most underrated. I must have read Ghost Story half a dozen times at least, savoring every sentence.

Very sad news indeed. His 'Blue Rose Trilogy' are some of my favorite books of all time. R.I.P.

Oh wow, that's so sad, may he RIP. I have a few of his novels I've yet to read (Ghost Story/Interior Darkness) and will get to it by the end of the month.

I think I only read the Talisman & Black House by him. I need to read more of his work.

I was sad to hear about this.

Ghost Story touched on all my childhood fears and some of my adult fears (which I discovered in subsequent readings). I've never read anything like it. It is my favorite horror book. I have seven different HC editions of it.

RIP.
