What audiobook service/app/subscription do you recommend. Looking for big selection and ability to keep books.

The biggest selection and ability to download books to a computer and keep them is probably still Audible. Most of the other services are more streaming based, so you own nothing. Libro.fm supports independent bookstores but they don't have as big a selection, and the downloading is a bit more work. Some of the services (like scribe) advertise "unlimited" but after you choose a couple books in the month, they cut you off from newer and popular items.
I use Audible.Com and am an Audible Plus Annual member. I chose the plan that gives me 24 credits to spend at any time rather than receiving 1 or 2 credits per month. A book purchased with a credit remains in your Library and will not go away even if Audible no longer offers it for sale. They also have a catalog of free titles that you can add to your Library for free, but they only remain in your Library for as long as the title is listed in the Audible plus catalog.
Audible also has a LOT of sales. Many of us have a love/hate relationship with the whole Amazon empire but Audible just is too darn good to quit.
I buy most of my audiobooks from Chirp Books. https://www.chirpbooks.com/home I only buy them on sale, they belong to me forever, and there is no membership.
