I don't find it as charming as the movie. I saw the movie as a historical fiction piece about the bond between the women who played for the AAGPBL. The show aims to tell the stories that couldn't be told in the 90s. It deals with LGBTQ issues, racism and sexism. I understand that and appreciate it but I didn't really care for the way it all played out.

l prefer Max's plot. Overall, it was more thoughtful and mature. Plus her friendship with Clance is the best part. Clance is hilarious and a true and loyal friend.

It took too long to get into the team spirit and the reason they're all there in the first place. I would have preferred to lead with that and then get into the private lives of the characters. We never get to meet some of the Peaches and learn who they are. I don't even remember all their names and we only learn backstories for some of them late in the series. In the movie we get to know Dottie and Kit right away, then Doris and May, Evelyn (and Stillwell), a little bit of Shirley, Betty Spaghetti, and Ellen Sue. They're a team- they're the Peaches! Then it coud dig deeper.

The queer stories seemed to be handled well and sensitively for the most part. I didn't care for (view spoiler)

The bar scene was heartbreaking. I would have liked a follow-up to learn what happened to the named characters who were there.

I also think the characters sounded too modern. There is a lot of language and I get it because they're ball players but it isn't always necessary. The 60s music doesn't help set the scene either.

I appreciated the behind-the-scenes talks where the showrunners explained a bit more about what was going on with the characters.

Anyone else watch this? What do you think?
