The Harry Potter series has long time been a favorite on mine. I started rereading the series in 2020, but I only made it to The Order of the Phoenix because of reasons. I decided to finish my reread and listened to Half-Blood Prince on audio while I ran errands, worked on my blog, and just before going to bed at night.
The Half-Blood Prince is actually my third favorite of the series. I really enjoy all the parts when Harry's with Dumbledore. I found their trips into the pensieve fascinating. I love learning all the history of not only the wizarding world, but Voldemort himself. When Dumbledore explains how many horcruxes he thinks Voldemort has created and that he failed to make one when he tried to kill Harry as a baby, I knew what that really meant.
I love the new characters and their significance to the overall story. I was happy to see Dobby return in this installment. I enjoy all the new spells and adore the couplings in this book. My favorite part is when Harry hides his potions textbook in The Room of Requirement because of what it foreshadows for Deathly Hallows.
The audiobook is so fun to listen to. Jim Dale is marvelous. I love his voices for each character (except Hermione). I also love that he sings the songs in the book. My only two complaints about the audiobook are Hermione's voice and the way he pronounces Hagrid's first name Rubeus. The complaints aren't enough to stop me from enjoying the story, though.
