This is where we'll keep you posted on possible real life meet-ups at GRL, etc.

It looks like the SO and I will be attending the 2023 Bouchercon Mystery Conference in San Diego, so if anyone is planning to be there, I'd love to see you!

Antonella | 11572 comments I didn't know where to write this, but in the future we will have an occasion less to get together: there won't be any more UK LGBT Fiction Meets!

It is really a pity. I have lots of good memories from all the meets I went to. At the first one in Brighton, 2012, I even won my first Kindle, the one I still use. It was the first prize of the raffle.

I just missed the last UK Meet, because it was at the same time as my other trip. But I can imagine that the effort was huge and after a while the people organising it got tired.

I always thought that Josh might come to Europe on the occasion, but maybe she could think again about the Paris Book Fair. The edition 2023 should have been Friday 21 till Sunday 23 April 2023, but has already been postponed. The new dates are not out yet.

It's a shame. I always hoped I would make it one year.

And I'm still so disappointed about the Paris Book Fair.

But one of these years for sure!

It's a lot of work to put these events together. I understand that people just run out of steam eventually. Especially, if new people don't come along to take up some of the slack. And these last years have been so tough for anyone trying to plan an event.

Ije the Devourer of Books | 1995 comments It is a pity about the UK meet. I went twice and I remember one occasion that I didn’t go but Antonella still visited me. It was really nice to actually meet people but it is a huge job for the organisers. I might try the Paris Book Fair if other people from this group are attending.

The SO and I are doing Bouchercon next year and hopefully I'll be doing GRL, so international travel is probably out for next year (not counting Canada, which the SO is pushing hard for).

But maybe there's a chance of attending one of the Bookmark Edition Pop-up bookstore events in 2024? I'll have to look into it.

Got this email from the UK Meet team:

“Just to update you. We have some folk who are interested in taking over the running of UK meet going forward, who can form the nucleus of a team. We'll be organising another 'find out more' session in November, so if anyone is interested in taking part in that (opportunity, not obligation for any commitment afterwards) then please let us know by email.

The Team”

😁

Ije the Devourer of Books | 1995 comments We will have to wait and see. I wouldn’t mind attending UK Meet next year if happens.
