A totally gripping thriller about a desperate mother with a troubled past.

One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally.

Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year.

Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever. In hopes of jarring loose a new witness or buried clue, she agrees to be interviewed by a true-crime podcaster—but his interest in Isabelle's past makes her nervous. His incessant questioning paired with her severe insomnia has brought up uncomfortable memories from her own childhood, making Isabelle start to doubt her recollection of the night of Mason’s disappearance, as well as second-guess who she can trust... including herself. But she is determined to figure out the truth no matter where it leads.

I am so sorry but I have been in a bit of a slump but plan on getting started on this one tonight y'all.

I haven't gotten to it yet either, Jennifer! I had seven books going at once. Way too many. I think it's just us. I'm buddy reading The Prisoner now and have the Finlay Donovan buddy after that. Could we put this one off for a couple of weeks? Maybe start on the 23rd? It doesn't publish until Jan 10th. I'm excited for it, but a little overwhelmed with reads right now.

yes that would be great! Hopefully I will be back up to par by the time we begin Finlay Donovan! I'm like you very excited for them both but just have been forcing myself to read this week. ughhhh.

I hope you get out of your slump too! I've been there many times. I do think that putting it off just a bit will be helpful so we will be more excited about it and less pressured. I'll change the date in the calendar and plan to start the 23rd. :) Hopefully, we'll be done Finlay by then.

Interesting to find out that she used to sleepwalk. I wonder if that will play into the story later.

I liked the way her insomnia was described as starting out by feeling like she should be awake for when her baby returned. I can completely understand that.

I was disappointed that she thought her husband was coming back to her. It was so clear that he was going to tell her that he was seeing someone else. But, I can see how she'd be easily confused after not sleeping for a year.

-it seems too easy for it to be the husband even though he’s shady
-could Waylon be Alison’s brother? I was wondering if he’s Isabelle’s half brother or something but if he doesn’t have a strong connection to the sisters would he bother avenging Margaret? Probably not so I’m thinking Alison’s brother maybe.
-The old man… has Isabelle been sleepwalking around the neighborhood with Mason at night? How could the husband not notice?

I'm at 41% up to chapter 24. Chapter 23 ended with a mike drop! (view spoiler)[ Seems strange that Ben's wife conveniently died while he was having a supposedly non-sexual affair with our MC. We also know that she has some history as well. Seems like tragedy may follow her / them around.

I wonder about the neighbor. Is this just a distraction? Did he or they see something or know something?

And what about our podcaster? Was it really just coincidence that he sat next to her on the plane? Is there hidden reasons behind his asking about her history so many times? (hide spoiler)]

So far, more questions than answers. I'm really curious to see where this goes.

Forgetting to update! I'm at 63% and I still think that (view spoiler)[ Waylon may end up being Ben's other wife's brother. She'll be the sister he mentioned earlier and he wants to find out what happened to her because he doesn't believe she overdosed.

I was pretty certain of it before, but now that she found the old files I'm not 100%. I do think that it would make sense though - why he sought her out the way he did.

Also, guessing he was the one who caught them kissing at the funeral. I would think that would set him to wondering about her and Ben too.

I'm not sure what to say, so much is happening... (view spoiler)[ So, it turns out that it was her mom that killed her sister and not her. Makes total sense that she would have misinterpreted all those clues and signals. Doing the math, she was only about 8 years old at the time. How sad that she lived with that her whole life.

I'm so curious what else will be in the file that her mother gave her. I wonder if any of it will help her figure out her current situation more. I'm glad that she was able to identify Waylon as the man from the funeral. We all knew it was him, so now I can't wait to see what she does with that information and how she puts it all together.

I also think that Ben is too easy a suspect for who got rid of Mason, but he is a jerk.

I'm not sure where the old man fits in. What is the deal there? Is she still misinterpreting some of his signals, like the smirking? And, why did she not ask him straight up if he knew what happened to the baby when he claims to have seen her with him the night he went missing? Did he ever tell the police that he saw her that night? If not, why not? And why is that other guy claiming there is no old man?

I can't wait to finish this find one and find out what happened. Where is Mason?!

I am getting caught up i still have like 6 books from the past but everything I got this year is up to date. I am working on my January books now.

I started this one and boy am I intrigued!

I am at 15% - end of chapter 8

I really empathise with her and want to find out more abt this kidnapping. My heart was breaking when her husband came to give her the heads up he is dating again. I was surprised he was so quick to think his son is dead though.
I am enjoying the past timeline and want to know more abt her sister. Does something bad happen? Is it related to the sleepwalking? Do child sleepwalkers have sleep disorders typically as adults?
