I probably won't be starting this one until after the 18th.

I've started this one. I'm about 25% through. It has a nice, gloomy atmosphere though it's been a bit slow so far. Also, I find the sluagh myth in this story to be quite a bit different from others I've read.

I've reached the halfway point and it's picked up a bit. (view spoiler)[Hugo's actions with the sluagh (speaking gaelic to them and ordering them around) along with the coldness that Leigh felt when she touched him, kind of remind me of another book that I read earlier this year where a mountaineer went missing presumed dead then shows up possessed by this mountain spirit. (hide spoiler)] Interested to see where this is going. Not sure whether I like it or not.

I really liked the last half of this book. (view spoiler)[I enjoyed watching Iain work through his feelings of guilt over Matthew's death. Loved that the community rallied around Leigh and her contributions to the war effort at home. I had a bit of an issue with her brother and others making her feel useless. She was a child. She didn't need to do anything. I don't know why Sam was treating her that way. That was his problem, not hers. (hide spoiler)] Other than my issues with Sam, I enjoyed the way the story ended. It was a little more character driven than my normal reads.
