Cafeteria
Lukas entered the cafeteria, Rhys' jacket still wrapped around him. He looked around until he found the coffee. With a little more pep in his step than before, he approached it.
The girl behind the counter smiled and asked for what kind of coffee he would like. Surprisingly, despite being in Alaska, they found a lot of outlets to supply specialties for cafe drinks and desserts. Rhys stood behind Lukas and let him get his coffee first, as the girl already knew his, he volunteered sometimes when Lakari couldn't.
Lukas stared in wonder at the options. "Hmmm.... Just a cappuccino please!" He bounced on the balls of his feet.
The girl nodded and got them their coffee drinks, setting them on the counter with a smile and walking back. Rhys sat on a stool and took a sip of his own drink, giving Lukas a small smile to join him.
Lukas took his drink, happily walking to a stool near Rhys. He took a sip and closed his eyes. "Ahh. Much better."
Rhys chuckled and sipped more of his drink. "Do you fly often?" He asked, his tone more hushed. He glanced up at Lukas as he waited for a response.
Lukas nodded enthusiastically, taking another sip of the warm beverage. "I fly anytime I have free time. It relaxes me."
Rhys smiled. "Me too. If I'm not messing with my drum set." He admitted, messing with his cup. He wasn't the biggest fan of warm drinks, but he guessed they were nice at times.
"Oh cool! Do you think you could teach me a little bit sometime?" He asked, smiling brightly.
Rhys blinked and then smiled. "Sure, we'll have to work around my roommate's schedule or something." Which reminded him, he had yet to meet the other boy. He had been told they were giving him a roommate, but he didn't know what to do with it, as he didn't even know his name. But either way, he would love to have Lukas come over to learn to play. It made him smile more at the thought and sip his drink.
Lukas laughed. "Really? That's awesome. Who's your roommate?" He took a few more sips of his drink, leaning back in his chair.
Rhys shrugged. "I- I haven't met him yet, actually." He said, sipping his coffee. "I've been busy with a lot of things and stuff. But I'll definitely meet him within the next few days." He said hopefully, glancing away.
"Oh. Well that's alright, I hope he's nice." He laughed a bit. "On another note, what's it like being the leader of the student leadership?" He continued to sip his coffee.
Rhys nodded and thought for a moment on his question. "It's usually busy at the beginning of the year, that's when all the events and stuff is. It tones down later but it's also a lot of responsibility. Though, I also find it fun to help and make things for other people to enjoy." He smiled widely and sipped the rest of his drink, turning and throwing away his cup.
"Sounds like it. I can't wait to help out with the planning of upcoming dances." Lukas smiled, finishing off his coffee and throwing away his cup.
"Me too!" He smiled back at the other dragon shifter, eyes bright. "It'll be fun." He leaned on the counter and hummed.
Lukas grinned. "So besides drums and flying, what other hobbies do you have?"
Rhys thought for a moment. "I write songs and stuff." He said smiling. "What about you?" He asked curiously.
"Well... I love dancing... I was thinking of trying out for the dance team... but... I don't know..."
Rhys smiled. "You should do it! it's fun and everyone is nice. So is Mr.Ashido." He encouraged, shifting a bit.
"Yeah... I just kinda feel like I don't have good enough skills for it... But you're right, I should. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? I don't get accepted? It's not like it would be the end of the world..."
"You know what? Tomorrow I'm going to March into the dance studio and ty out!" He exclaimed, suddenly confident.
Lol its fine)) Lukas continued, beaming, "now I just need to figure out what I should do for the tryout...." He took out a note pad from his pocket and a pen. He started brainstorming, fist with the genre of dance.
Rhys watched him curiously with a small smile on his face. "It shouldn't be too hard, to be honest. Mr. Ashido could whip you into shape if he felt you needed it." He said. He'd only talked to a latter a few times, but he found him to be a nice guy that loves to joke. And flirt with the teachers. Not that bothered him, just made him laugh. It also made him sure that Lukas would be in the team easily
"Yeah... but still, I want to make a good impression, y'know?" Lukas shrugged.
Rhys nodded. "I understand." He gave him a small smile, watching him slightly as he conjured up ideas.
Lukas began writing, then after a second he stopped. "What do you think?"
"Right... okay... now I just need to figure out the right song..." He started humming different tunes, thinking of what might go along with the moves.
Rhys snapped his fingers, suggesting a song off the top of his head he felt matched the moves. "Hm?" He asked. "It's just a suggestion."
Lukas thought about it. "That... that's perfect!" He smiled brightly. "Now I just need to practice!" He started playing out the moves in his head.
Rhys smiled and chuckled a bit at his enthusiasm. "Mhm. The best place to practice is the dance studio. Just a tip."
"Right- I should go there!" He quickly got to his feet, already going to leave. Before that, he stopped. "Oh, uh do you want to help me practice?"
Rhys thought for a moment. "Do you want me to?" He asked. He didn't know what to do, as he wasn't not free but didn't know if Lukas wanted him to come.
"I mean... you could give me a little outside feedback, but you don't have to if you don't want to..." Lukas shrugged, suddenly remembering he was wearing the other boy's jacket. "Oh my gosh-" He quickly took it off, handing it to him, "here. Don't want to just steal it."
Rhys blinked. "It's alright. I am willing if you want me too. You were fine." He took his jacket. "You're warm now, right?" He asked, eyes assessing him. He held it halfway between them in case he was still cold.
Lakari was finishing clean-up after the lunch rush, leaving the stray afternoon coffee drinkers and smoothie regulars on Wednesdays. She sighed, finishing the espresso machine and moving on to the blender. She hummed as she worked, content in doing what she had gotten used to over the years. She was a part of the Leadership and Volunteers Club since her first year, finding it interesting. And now she was the full time cafe volunteer, but she enjoyed it for the best of days. She finished the blender, rinsing it out and dusting her hands on her apron.
Rosalie walked in, her headphones in her ears. She dodged her way through a group of customers around her as she prepared to start working. She had only started volunteering this year and so far it has been pretty decent.
Lakari caught sight of Rosalie and leaned on the counter. "Hey, Rose." Lakari smiled, her eyes genuine. She remembered talking to her at the Welcome Festival but hasn't talked to her much since. She stood back to her full height, eyes on Rosalie.
"Hey!" She said, smiling in surprise. "You must be the other volunteer I was told about." Rose walked behind the counter and paused to place down her bag. "It's Lakari, right?" She asked, pointing at her.
Lakari hummed. "That I am. Nice to see you again." She looked to the bag with a raised, brow, curious as to what it was. "I'm just glad to have someone helping me." She said, glancing over to her.
"Yeah. Same here." Rosalie and Lakari talked at the Welcome Festival and she thought she was pretty cool. "I know I'm a bit late but I had a dance class that ran a bit late. Which is why I have my bag with me." She explained, seeing that she was looking at her bag with curiosity.
Lakari waved her hand in dismissal. "You're alright. I know Masami, I only come to practice on my days off. And I don't blame you for wanting to stay longer. He's a chill guy. Plus, dancing is fun." She gave her a bright smile and pointed to the back. "Just put it in the cubby and we'll go from there. It's dead right now, the rush ended a bit ago." She reported with a hum, getting a rag from the sink after striding to grab a fresh one off the shelf.
Rose smiled, βThanks.β She said. She placed her dance bag in one of the cubbies before coming back. She tied her hair up into a ponytail and began helping her clean up. ((So so so sorry! Iβve been really busy with things π))
