In Memoriam Queen Elizabeth II
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death on 8th September 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime and 15 at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days is the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female sovereign in history.
This challenge is to remember her life. 96 is an impressive life span for anyone to reach and there are a multitude of events and interpretations from the life she has lived.
1. Read books set in a country that she either ruled over or that is part of the commonwealth.
2. Read books with page numbers made up from 21/04/1926 or 08/09/2022.
3. Read books with a member of the royal family playing a key part.
4. Read a book published during her rule, by a female author from the Commonwealth.
5. She worked up until 3 days before her death. Read a book with the main character being a working woman.
6. She celebrated her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year. Read a book with Silver, Gold, Diamond or Platinum in the text.
7. She was a keen horsewoman. Read a book where the characters ride horses.
8. Spell out some key places and people from her life. If you have lost a loved one in the last few years, you could also spell out their name. The list of words is under the spoiler tag.
