So many songs in all genres have countries in their titles so I thought it would be a fun challenge to look at some amazing music since October has World Singing Day.

Duration:: Three months from start date

TASKS

1. "Born in the U.S.A." is a song written and performed by Bruce Springsteen, and released in 1984 on the album of the same name. It was ranked 275th on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and in 2001, the RIAA's Songs of the Century placed the song 59th (out of 365). The song addresses the economic hardships of Vietnam veterans upon their return home, juxtaposed ironically against patriotic glorification of the nation's fighting forces

2. Lost in France" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. It was released as a single in September 1976 by RCA Records. "Lost in France" was Tyler's second single and first chart hit in her career. The lyrics depict Tyler in a daze due to love. It peaked at number two in South Africa, and was also a Top 20 hit in another six countries.

3. "China Girl" is a song written by Iggy Pop and David Bowie during their years in Berlin, first appearing on Pop's debut solo album The Idiot (1977). The song became more widely known when it was re-recorded by Bowie, who released it as the second single from his most commercially successful album, Let's Dance (1983)

4. "Back in the U.S.S.R." is a song by the English rock band the Beatles and the first track of the 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as the "White Album"). Written by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The song is a parody of Chuck Berry's "Back in the U.S.A." and the Beach Boys' "California Girls". The lyrics subvert Berry's patriotic sentiments about the United States, as the narrator expresses relief upon returning home to the Soviet Union, formally the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

5. "You're My Jamaica" is a song written by Kent Robbins, and recorded by American country music artist Charley Pride. It was released in July 1979 as the first single and title track from the album You're My Jamaica. The song was Pride's twenty-second number one country hit. The single stayed at number one for one week and spent a total of ten weeks on the country chart

6. "Never Been to Spain" is a song written by Hoyt Axton,originally released on his 1971 LP Joy to the World and later that year performed by Three Dog Night, with Cory Wells on lead vocal. It was featured on their 1971 album Harmony.The recording was produced by Richard Podolor.

7. "Lovers in Japan" is a song by British rock band Coldplay. It was written by all members of the band for their fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. The song is built around an introductory tack piano sound, then followed by chiming guitars and soaring choruses, supported by the pianos and rhythms that accompany the song's lyrics. The album version of "Lovers in Japan" shares the track with the song "Reign of Love".

8. "Australia" is a song by the British rock band The Kinks, appearing on their 1969 album, Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire). It was written by the band's main songwriter, Ray Davies. In the song, the character Derek attempts to convince his father, Arthur, of the great opportunities available in Australia, where there's "no drug addiction" and you can "surf like they do in the U.S.A."

9. "Cuba" is a 1978 song by French musical group Gibson Brothers, released as the first single from their fourth album of the same name (1979). It was the group's first charting single: In the US, "Cuba", went to #81 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and #9 on the Billboard Dance chart.

10. "Mexico" is a song written by James Taylor that first appeared as the opening track of his 1975 album Gorilla. 11. "This Is England" is a song by the English punk rock band the Clash, released as a single in September 1985, from their sixth and final studio album, Cut the Crap. 12. "Voodoo Chile" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and recorded in 1968 for the third Jimi Hendrix Experience album Electric Ladyland. It is based on the Muddy Waters blues song "Rollin' Stone", but with original lyrics and music. At 15 minutes, it is Hendrix's longest studio recording and features additional musicians in what has been described as a studio jam.
