For me, he redeemed himself in the previous book when he sacrificed himself for Molly and the others. He did not have anything to prove in this one and how could he have known that Nunsantra (sp?) was after him?Yes, he deserved the pardon. His country deserted him and he did what he needed to do to survive. He suffered agonizing physical and psychological torture, and tried to be a good person despite the circumstances.
Grady more than redeemed himself. I blame the government more than Grady. There is only so much torture that a human body can endure before you will do anything to stop it. If the government had stepped in, Grady wouldn't have worked for the criminal element he was forced to join to get out of prison.
Grady more than deserved the pardon. He was a man caught in a no-win situation who was told his country deserted him and left him for dead. I always liked Grady, he was a very pragmatic person who lived for number 1 until he met and fell in love with Molly. He changed for her.
Rather than court martial Grady for surviving they should have given him a path back to home. He more than redeemed himself and merited that pardon.
