Timeless Theories
Not really any solid theories at the moment, but can we please talk about the fact that Timeless is going to be so good but also so much pain? I’m so scared!! (in a "I need the book, now" kind of way, haha)
Hi everyone! Each week until the release of Timeless, we will be posting discussion questions. These will not be specific to one book. We’ve decided to post them here, but please do not discuss Timeless spoilers if you were fortunate enough to get an ARC!
The first discussion question is: Based on the symbols on the cover of Timeless, which gods, goddesses, and/or titans do you think will appear in the book?

Hmmm.
He’s not a God or a Titan but the helmet did make me think of Achilles! 😂
I think knowing what we know from Scions and the time travel, the clock/hourglass on the cover definitely makes me think of Chronos.
Theia for the eyes maybe? But the eyes and the tree just makes me think of Gaia, just very Earth-y vibes.
But then the eyes and the peacock both scream Hera…
In conclusion, I think we are going to be seeing a lot of mythological icons!

I had been totally confused on the bottom right symbol. I'd guessed that maybe it could be related to Athena?
The helmet makes me think of Ares, Hades, and/or Athena. Athena and Ares are war gods, and Hades has a helm of invisibility (thanks Rick Riordan!)
The eyes make me think of Hera and her servant. The peacock is totally Hera's symbol!
I think that the time related symbols are for Cronus as well!
I look forward to seeing these mythical icons 😁

I got the Chronos right but I had no clue on the others lmao. I was like :O when I saw the actual clues lmao.
The one that surprised me most was Moirai (bottom right, hourglass). I’m pretty in to my Greek Mythology, but had to Google that name for a refresher!

Same! I thought that the hourglass was Cronus when I first made a guess (around when the cover was first released)

Ikr? I was sort of mad that I didn't guess Argus. In my defense, he was dead in the myths 😅

I also got the symbol wrong too! I'd thought that the hourglass was Cronus' sibling

Today's discussion question: Which of the characters in the Starcrossed series would you like to hang out with the most? Where would you like to hang out with them?

My answer to the question: I'd want to hang out with Helen in Everyland (before she gave it to Zeus)

Ohhh, I'd love to go to Everyland too!
I think Orion or Ariadne would be the perfect people to hang out with casually. Anywhere would be fine to be honest - I wouldn't mind being with them somewhere in Nantucket for example.
Or Cassandra, for a not-so-casual meeting just because I'd love to know her. Maybe in a library? Although she'd probably hate every library that does not contain the selection of books the Delos family owns. -- And I couldn't access them or I would probably die. Hm...

Nice! I'd want to hang out with Orion under the sea :)

I'll come back and write a detailed post when I'm ready. Thank you for those of you who've participated in the discussion posts so far!

Nice! I'd want to hang out with Orion under the sea :)" I think I do identify a bit with Helen, on the side of being the odd one but the rest, I definitely can't compare with demi-gods lol.
I identify the most with Helen. I was also shy, and I felt like I didn’t really fit in at school or in society, though I did and still do have a loving family. I love her journey to accepting herself, and she’s pretty inspirational to me. I also have Matt’s detail-orientedness
This week's discussion question: what roles do you think Hera, Hades, Cronus and Hecate will play in Timeless?

Nice! Before I read Timeless, I had a feeling that Hades would be the only truly helpful one. Hera’s totally a wild card
This weeks discussion question:
After Persephone gives Helen and Orion information about the Furies, they ultimately decide to help the Furies instead of killing them. Do you think that you would have saved the Furies after listening to Persephone? Why, or why not?

I think I identify mostly with Daphne because when I was younger I moved around to a lot of places and because of where I used to live I didn’t really get to make many friends because they were our rival schools and when I moved from the north to the south I didn’t make very many friends because I was from the north and I had an accident and you know sometimes southern people don’t like northern people and moving around a lot really makes it hard to make friends so I mostly kept to myself or had maybe one good friend but ended up having to leave again.
This week’s discussion question I would have saved the theories rather than killing them because they were being tortured by the gods also and that’s why they were the way they were and saving them they could also be a good ally if you needed them
Thank you so much for answering the other questions J!
I would have tried to save the Furies after listening to Persephone. The Furies never wanted the role that was foisted on them. Also, they almost always seemed to be crying whenever they appeared. I don't know if I would have figured out how to help them by myself though.

Today’s discussion question:
If you had to be born with one, would you rather find out that you’re a Shadowmaster or an Earthshaker (assume that you don’t find out until you’re a teenager)?

Same! I think it would be cool to be a Shadowmaster. I'd be scared if I was an Earthshaker.

Shadowmaster too. When your emotions fluctuates no one should suffer for it lmao (points at me and my emotional stability)
This week's discussion question: If you were a Rogue, which Houses would you want to be a part of?
I'd want to be a part of the House of Athens and the House of Thebes. I really want to breathe underwater, and I'd like to have the Falsefinder talent 😁

Ana-Maria wrote: "Lianne wrote: "This week's discussion question: If you were a Rogue, which Houses would you want to be a part of?" For someone who doesn't know how to swim breathing under water would be just fanta..."
LOL, I love it!! ❤️
LOL, I love it!! ❤️

For a more difficult question: which Houses would you NOT want to be a part of? I wouldn't want to be from the House of Rome, as I don't like the idea of manipulating other peoples' emotions. I also don't want to have lightning powers, so no House of Atreus for me!

This week’s discussion question: With the presence of both Hecate and Cronus, we now have two Titans playing an important role in the Starcrossed Universe. Aside from Cronus’ cannibalism, the Titans much nicer than the Greek gods to humanity. What do you know about the Titans in general? Do you wish that we knew more about them?

I think we should have a debate of who was the worst/evil of them all. I think Zeus was the ultimate menace lmao.
I don't think I know as much about the Titan's as I do as the Olympians, which is something I wish to rectify. I really do enjoy Greek myth, and need to get around to reading my hoards of books I've been collecting. Emily Wilson's translated version of The Odyssey is at the top of that list, for sure. I'd also like to reread Ovid's Metamorphosis again, I read that in my uni days and thought it was incredibly fascinating.
But yeah, I don't know. I wouldn't say I'm clueless on the Titans but I definitely need a brush up. It's just so interesting/complicated/fascinating because there are so many iterations of them in texts, that sometimes it's hard to keep track of all the mythologies. And oh my god. That family tree.
I think it was Janice and Tina, this morning in a group chat, were discussing whether Hecate/Hekate was actually a Titan or just simply (you know, no big deal or anything lmao) a deity. I think Hecate is definitely one of my favourites, and I wish to know more about her. (I in part find her so compelling because I also really like Medea and Circe, so basically anything to do with witchcraft and cats haha).
